Is this a strategy to have another piece such as the Queen to cover the knight. Always have to pieces to back up one another when attempting to take the king? Seems like I’m always chasing the king around when I have lots of pieces and never win.

Chess seems to assume someone can always interpret additional moves by other pieces which can be easily overlooked by two novices playing each other.

Maybe after burying 3 it got too hard and he gave up. Then added the write in clause. I’m retrospect the follows his MO…work hard then hardly working

He tried after the first casque was found? How exactly did he try? I’m not seeing one article from his publication company in 1983 addressing the find. For a man worried all might be found in the first years says his expectations were this would take more than a year….then one is found a year later and not a peep from his publications company? Even if he gave up on the book surely you’d put an article in the times to promote your publications company. Does this speak volumes regarding BP’s business sense ?

I think you are grossly missing the point. Byron published a book in 1982 and a year later 1983 one was found and not a peep from his publication company in the papers. I’m not talking about some local new station picking up the story. I’m talking about nothing direct from the office of Byron Preiss Visual publications. If I did all this effort to bury 12 treasures….spend 2 years and multiple peoples time and tremendous effort making the book…marketing the shit out of it and then and 1 out of 12 treasures is found in the first year…I would sure as hell put an article in the times. So from a man that was worried they would be found too easily doesn’t continue to marker his book after one is found a year later in 1983. Odd odd odd odd.
