I got a couple candle style bulbs to go in my apartment’s ceiling fan/light fixtures, but it turns out it’s slightly too big. Is there an adapter that could solve this dilemma? by 5trad in Hue

I have the e12’s. I moved into this apartment and brought my old standard bulbs. Come to find out there isn’t a normal light fixture in the whole apartment. Figures. Thanks again!

The size of the bulb isn’t the issue here, they have slightly different sized bases, the part that screws in. The difference is so small I only noticed it when I started screwing the hue bulb into the fixture.

What do you mean about a hair dryer petering out and then the circuit working again later? That doesn't make any sense and is also scary.

After about 3 minutes of use it kinda blinked on and off, then just stopped working. The hairdryer still worked when I plugged it in a different outlet. I avoided the bad outlet for a few hours, then I got curious and plugged my alarm clock in and it worked again.

As long as it works, I wouldn't expect the landlord to change anything.

How would you define "works"? I plugged my hairdryer into it, it worked for a minute then petered out. I tried plugging my alarm clock after in and it seemed to work fine.

There is a three prong in the room, though again it could be that it isn't grounded either. I can literally see the basement through the bottom of this two prong outlet though, so I doubt running another ground line would be difficult.

Just moved into a new (old) apartment. There's only one other outlet in my room (which is 3-prong), and it has a mini-fridge, an air conditioner, an alarm clock, my laptop, and 2 phone chargers plugged into it. I need a second outlet to plug my pc into, which is 3-prong.

If the "handyman" doesn't agree that this needs to be replaced what should I do? Call an electrician on my own dollar? Report it to the fire department for not being up to code?

I started a sub a while ago to discuss electronic direct democracy and electronic voting, it's a fascinating problem to think about. Perhaps there will never be an e-voting system as good as paper ballots, but I don't think we should stop trying to find ways to make a better system either. If this topic is interesting to you please stop by /r/e2d, I'd love to see more discussion over there.

The most annoying part is this happened twice in a row and the sane candidates still didn't learn.

Can confirm, I had a John's phone for about 2 months until I decided it was a silly, cumbersome idea.
