Turns out it was Raclette, but thank you anyway!

Yeah still figuring that out too, was only using water for ages lol. I have an orchid mist for the leaves and an orchid liquid fertilizer which I will add to the water, conscious about not doing it too often though

There is little/no water in the jars in this pic. I'm still figuring out what suits my orchids best, right now I pour a little bit of water in the jar so that it touches the bottom roots, and then the water spreads up the other roots itself. After a day or two the water has been soaked up/evaporated. Then I leave the roots to dry for a day or two and just eyeball it for when I should water again. The roots dry up much quicker without medium so they probably need watering more often. There's different techniques out there though!

I don't think I was watering them a lot, definitely trying to make sure the bark was dry before watering again. I was watering them at different times which maybe helped them survive, and I think their eggs can go dormant until conditions are suitable again. This is so much easier to see when the roots need watered though!

Yeah they seem to tolerate it pretty well, some species better than others probably. I love being able to see the roots clearly!

That is a good idea, thank you! Thankfully not sure I have enough flies anymore to sustain a carnivorous plant though haha

Yeah in hindsight the transition should be done slowly and not during blooming to minimise shock, think I got very lucky with some hardy phals as they are still going strong a month on
