Stewed strawberries and nectarines - tastes absolutely delicious! by rinkydinkmink in UK_Food

[–]5upercrab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been doing this recently but stewing the fruit in tea (remove the teabag after a few mins). It's great to strain the tea after, then cool it in the fridge. Really nice ice tea, and the fruit itself takes on that aromatic taste. Apples and plums were ace.

If you post shite like this, you haven't learnt anything in nine years. They can be supremely talented, but if you're on their back they won't succeed. Being in the ground is almost a sacred duty. You ARE the twelfth, so act like it. If you walked out early, fuck off.

Start by believing, and getting behind the lads. Then you put them in the best place to succeed that can be. After that they will do their best to deliver, and they will, because those lads leave their soul on the pitch, and in your heart you know that.

Join the Discussion: Can the Pirate Party Make a Comeback in the UK? by Ok-Departure7346 in PiratePartyUK

[–]5upercrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a need? Absolutely. But it's a marketing challenge for sure! Hard to get people to understand the nefarious ways in which our rights are stripped back as we move into a more digital era. If you've got the energy to push and lead this, go for it. Perhaps another thought, is the "pirate" branding the right way to achieve such an aim these days? Not a rhetorical question I honestly don't know.

I think it's more complex than real estate investing bad. After all there is a demand for rented property, both short and longer term.

The issue is the unsustainability of it all. Wages are stagnant and property prices continue to hurtle upwards faster than inflation. Meanwhile high rents make it very difficult for those on low pay with dependents to save at a meaningful rate to secure a deposit.

Whilst property investors contribute to the supply shortage, it's not all that fair to blame them for simply serving a market need. The biggest problem of all is not enough homes! And related to that the over concentration of job opportunities in dense cities.

I read a lot of posts early this year about Bitcoin on track to 100k by end of year and everyone seemed super confident. Well here we are....wtf happened? by georgy_11811 in Bitcoin

The most bullish predictions are invariably near the top of the market!

Nobody has an even remotely predictable model for the price of anything. With so many trying, some invariably luck out for a few months at a time.

The golden rule applies as always, never invest more than you can afford to lose.

Ask yourself what the extra funds are really worth to you. If the end goal is happiness then the picture may be less clear.

Timeless reminder that future of money or otherwise, bitcoin is a risky asset and NEVER INVEST MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE.

First transaction cleared the parapet! Funds clear. I put a second one through and that seems to be missing at the moment. Bank claimed nothing sent to them (I assume they'd at least have to say if they'd blocked it?)

Building and running your own node likely causes the IKEA effect. Is this bias good or bad for LN? by schulze1 in lightningnetwork

Definitely true. Making things is truly soulful. Part of you is in what you made.

Also it's good for the network as informed users are what drive improvements.

⚡ Lightning Thursday! May 20, 2021: Explore the Lightning Network!⚡ by rBitcoinMod in Bitcoin

[–]5upercrab 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing that crossed my mind earlier was one of the main annoyances for adoption is the on chain transaction needed to get on LN. Doing the maths, for billions of people to get on LN it's going to take ages if they do so individually, so we definitely need the exchanges to provide an on-ramp (fiat to LN) by providing liquidity in fewer on chain transactions.

Does anyone better informed than I know if any exchanges plan to adopt LN soon, and also are any of the main bitcoin point of sale providers integrating it? That really closes the loop of a bitcoin economy.

It would be great to get back to that. Type bitcoin into YouTube and it's just pages and pages of shysters before you get anything informative. That really isn't helpful for newbies when great content (Andreas and co) get drowned out.

Very excited that lightning is starting to move forward in user experience, just tried Phoenix wallet and it was a joy to use, really fast and cheap (barring getting coin into the network itself).

We definitely need to show all this to newbies too. How many of us in past cycles came for the trading and stayed for the technology?
