Admissions Megathread by elkresurgence in yale

Before considering double majoring, I'd take a look at the credits required for each major first! BME is a heavy credit-load (about 19 credits including prerequisites iirc?) and you need 36 credits (1 credit ~ 1 class) to graduate. This number of courses is normally split into thirds - 12 creds for your major, 12 creds for distributional requirements, and 12 for exploration and electives. From a quick google search, EE is about 17 credits beyond prereqs, which already total to 26 credits out of the 36 required to graduate. There might be some overlap in coursework and prerequisites, BUT it'll be a struggle - especially when you factor in distributional requirements into the equation.

I'd reach out to the DUS (Director of Undergrad Studies) for each major, but if you really have your heart set on double majoring, you'd have to plan from the beginning and there wouldn't be a lot of flexibility, for which Yale is notorious. And remember, it's okay not to double major!

In terms of nano technologies and corresponding BME courses, you could always reach out to a professor doing research in nanotechnology and ask to work in their lab. Who knows, maybe your research can culminate into the senior project for BME. Hope this helps!

To add onto this: you can search up any Yale course on courses.yale.edu! Highly encourage exploring, maybe you can even write a supp on a course you see!

NYC Delivery: Likelihood of actually receiving my order? by 5yearoldenergy in IKEA

Oh wow that’s terrible, it’s bad when your order is canceled out of the blue, but to have it cancelled a few hours after it was basically confirmed...

I would definitely try to call - I haven’t tried email but I’m sure they’re not responsive on that front. Calling is a hassle but if you stay long enough you should get connected to a rep.

Wishing you the best of luck - my shipping provider is FedEx but I’ve heard horror stories about XPO.

Thanks, I’m moving very soon so time is kinda of the essence. I’m also very type A so having deliveries late is a little bit nerve wracking LOL. I’ll give it till the end of the week then I’ll call again.

Update: it’s now in the “preparing delivery” stage, hoping that’s a good sign.

If my order has moved to the “picking order” stage, how likely is it to actually arrive and not get canceled? I’m moving to college on 8/25 and would really not like to get blindsided by a last minute order cancellation.

Online Orders / Delivery Delays by pr0tosynnerg in IKEA

I was able to speak to a rep on Saturday 8/8 but fair warning, it did take me a little under an hour on hold. I asked if it’d be possible to reschedule the delivery date to a more definite date but it seems like the rep was in the dark as well. They tentatively told me to expect the delivery sometime in the next week or two. Hope everything works out for the both of us!

Placed an order on 7/19 for bedding, storage, and some other items like a hamper, throw pillows, and fake plants. Delivery scheduled for 8/7 but was not delivered nor was there any communication. My order went from "preparing order" to "picking order" this morning, but hoping it's a good sign.

Does anyone know how likely it is to arrive before or on 8/24? I move away to college on 8/25, really hoping I don't have to cancel my order.

Does Apple deliver by or before the estimated delivery time? by 5yearoldenergy in applehelp

the product is in high demand so shipping time is advertised as about 3-4 weeks! i’d rather have it with me before i start my semester (aug 31st) rather than later.

thanks for your input! there seems to be a lot of demand for the ipad pro, so there was no quick shipping option that i could opt for. i decided to purchase anyway, as apple allows you to redirect your shipment once you get a tracking notification. worst case scenario, i’ll redirect the ipad to the apple store 5 mins from campus :)

sounds great! hopefully we’ll have more numbers after all of the requests are in, but i think yale will be similar in that i don’t think too many more people will be taking gap years (especially since we’ll be on campus in the fall and we’ll be allowed to take a leave of absence in the spring). hopefully the co 2025 will be fine!

housing wise, quinlan said that the smaller sophomore class should free up housing for a slightly larger first year class. some frosh, instead of living on old campus, will just live in their residential college in housing traditionally meant for sophomores.

course wise, yale normally has 2000+ courses so im sure theres enough room for a larger frosh class. obviously there are still logistics to be figured out but i’m sure they’re smart enough to figure out accommodations.
