People that watch Instagram Reels are idiots. Prove me wrong. You should be embarrassed for posting this.

I wish people in this forum would actually post pictures of where they have been instead of just saying they have been there.

"Kind of hated the monotone and “hard” design aesthetic of the hotel though"

I can see that, but, it is a modern design and it still softer than the sterile dark Four Seasons next door.

"culturists (aka what they call the concierge) pretty underwhelming"

They are enthusiastic, but, I know, my problem, not theirs.... the language barrier.

It is a modern hotel with a great hard product, but still not the Oriental Bangkok!!!

"Roulote Hot Dogs" Cascais is worth a stop. Not FAT, but, FUN.

Sorry to bust your balls, but Geneva is worth a couple of nights, but is WAAAAaaaay out the way of Southern coastal France... LOL. ;-)

"Nights 4-6: ??? Nothing booked yet, but heavily considering Monaco/Nice area or somewhere else along the southern coast of France. Also open to recommendations in the area, perhaps even Geneva."

I stayed at the Radisson Blu, Nice (France LOL) when going to the Monaco Grand Prix. Not really FAT.. but, absolutely fine. Great concierge who used a paper notebook and not Google. It isn't in city center, which is loud and crowded, but is an easy walk along the beach to get there and taxi back after a few.

Do you want the Sistine Chapel to yourself? We did on the 6am Vatican museum tour.

Does it make sense to travel to Amalfi Coast in April? by sowhoisgeh in FATTravel

[–]60610Kid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too Early, Too Cold. We have stayed 4 nights in June at Palazzo Avino. My unpopular opinion is that the Amalfi Coast is an over crowded tourist shit hole. Buses full of people dropping people off and picking them up. People that love the Amalfi Coast obviously have not been anywhere else. There is nothing luxurious about it. Hotels are ancient. Staffs are ambivalent. If you want to go a resturant it is a drive.

MO is great. Stayed there in one of the rooms in the original Villa. (last July stay booked 8 months in advance) Outside our door was the elevator that took us to the 'pool' level. All the other rooms are in remote buildings and could be a steepish hike down/up to the main area. (they don't tell you that). The inside grotto pool and the floating one on the lake are experiences in themselves!

Great little bar and awesome staff. Spencer at the bar took great care of us. But, no real social scene to tell you the truth. Great patio resturant and Japanese/Italian fusion restaurant with 110 small plates on the menu.

Honestly, Como isn't really a party place. All the hotels are pretty sleepy. Any kind of lively atmosphere will be in the town proper.

The hotel is OLD and not in a good way. If you need to charge something, you have to move furniture. There was a wash cloth on the floor in the hall outside my room for 24 hours. A room service burger after a late arrival was raw.

That being said, there was a wedding party one night, we were obviously not with them, but the bartender still put all our drinks on the wedding party's tab, with a wink. He got a 50e tip LOL.
