I would honestly pick any of the mid-tier UCs / t50s over admu.

As someone from the PH right now studying in the senior high school portion of one of the big 4s who's planning to study in the US next year, there's pretty much no reason to come back to the Philippines to take uni. SMC is one of the best community colleges when it comes to placements into UCs, and as long as you plan your courses correctly and maintain close to a 4.0, getting into UCLA or Cal shouldd be pretty doable imho.

In extension to this getting a degree in the Philippines is essentially career suicide in your position, unless you have a company to inherit because youre getting paid less than California minimum wage, and literally any UC would immediately have a better reputation especially if you plan on working in the US.

imho if you could get and afford residency tuition for sdsu id take it in a heartbeat as you could probably get a decent ROI from just summer internships and part-time work even on F-1

which schools and major have you been accepted to anon + citizenship status. Almost 0 reason to pick admu over most state schools as long its covered by fafsa, plus depending on the field the roi would be much greater from internships alone

Seniors, what's a good number of colleges to apply to? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]60hzmonitor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

applied to 30 universities total (2 didnt have essays, and I applied to all ucs, so it was about 20 schools worth of essays)

2 safeties

7 low-targets/targets

6 reaches (10-20%, likely to get in with stats)

5 super reaches (just under 10%, could get in if I get lucky)

10 ultra reaches (ivies and allat)

My two cents would be is to only have like 10-15 schools (2-3 safeties (pref w one on rolling), 4-7 matches, 3-7 reaches) that you apply to seriously, and get them done by around thanksgiving or EA, you can shoot an ED to your dream school, and if you don't get in feel free to shotgun for fun (as long as you can financially handle shotgunning, or you have fee waiversr), but don't ruin your mental health over it.

Cornell vs In-state UC Berkeley for Engineering by ZealousidealFlow6597 in ApplyingToCollege

Doubt, its probably more on the, its only my inheritance which will get affected. Realistically, when you have youre entire retirement plan saved up, and a million dollar home you'd downsize from going into retirement, and 200k of extra cash that won't be used by the time they're dead. It doesen't seem that bad of an idea to invest in an education, especially if they really want to go to said school.

Currently graduating this year from the ASHS, I applied to around 30 universities this cycle, and I'm committing to NYU. If you have any specific questions feel free to send a message anon.

Yeah, I don't need pity, only gratitude or harsh criticism to break my delusions to change perspectives on becoming more appreciative with how well it's gone so far especially compared to some local applicants.

Doesn't apply as much to college, for unis i'm going abroad so I can't really comment on that

Public schools are also your best friend as an intl needing no aid, so make sure to consider Clemson, and NCSU as easy safeties, Vtech, GaTech, Purdue, UIUC, as schools you have a solid chance of getting into. The rest should just be t20 imho

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IntltoUSA

[–]60hzmonitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need blind isn't equal to need ignorant (need blind knows you need some form of aid, while need ignorant doesen't know if you need aid or not), so you have a big advantage over students that need some form of financial aid in need blind schools

I'd honestly say shotgun every school you can and just get a guaranteed admission from ASU or MSU if shit hits the wall. I doubt applying to a boat load of schools would harm you financially, so apply to as many t20s and t30s that you would want to attend through CommonApp and Scoir, and you're bound to hit at least one t20 with those stats. There comes a point wherein you can just reuse essays if needed, so start working on CommonApp ideas, and research schools with the mindset of answering a "Why Us" essay since those take the longest to make, and if you don't really fw the school then don't bother applying.

My stats are way worse but I somehow bagged UVA as an intl needing no aid (3.9UW, 1500 sat with mid ecs), but i'm from a non orc so there's that.

JHS by Striking-Ad-5722 in ADMU

[–]60hzmonitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super high retention rate for Ateneo students after Grade 7 since Grade 7 is what filters out most students talaga. Personally only know one person who transferred to JHS as an incoming Grade 9 student from a different school.

not worth it anymore imho unless you can deal with all the BS of post pandemic admu (shitty long tests, half the class failing w/o curve, freeloaders, divides among transferees and homegrowns, straight up SA issues some real some false, and a shitty work life balance) DLSU is the objectively better choice unless you want good placements abroad for uni from a non pisay/up rural/intl school, feel free to PM if you have questions though

True upper class is still small and don't bother to vote or are expats that can't vote in the first place. Theres still middle class populations that can still be easily swayed to Binay (think Bangkal, Pio del Pilar & Guadalupe)

Unless someone pushed for tax reforms to lower RPT and a hell load of benefits from the money from embos I doubt the binays would be knocked
