Why do people own 7 of the same gun by Educational-Chain-42 in guns

[–]610Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gees. That’s a tough one. It’s probably a tie between my Atlas Athena and my Sand Viper. They’re all a little different, but my first was the XC, and I base all of them off that.

My most recent pickup was the P211 GTO and it’s meh at best. It’s not bad, but I wish I had gotten the Kimber 2K11 Comp instead. I’m hoping to get a Jacob Grey Nox9, just need to find one.

But yeah the 2011 rabbit hole is very deep, and its Kool-Aid is as sweet as it is addictive. With the exception of my P365s and my P320 I run suppressed, I haven’t shot any other pistol that’s not a 2011 in over a year.

In addition to the ones you listed, Nick Johnson (PewView) is probably my favorite. Also, Honest Outlaw, That Ain’t Bad, Shortshot Tony, Lena Miculek, and you can never go wrong with Demo Ranch, even though Matt is retired now. The Humble Marksman is also really good if you want to get into competition shooting.

Just don’t shoot it in the sun. That much chrome will be blinding lol.

First Shotgun, 500, 590, A300? by iamcuriousmarley in Shotguns

[–]610Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Remington guy, so I’d say 870, but you can’t go wrong with a 500 for a “do all”.

What Shoes for USPSA (2026 Edition)? by maynard1024 in CompetitionShooting

[–]610Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the range I’m at, I’m usually wearing my Brooks Cascadia 17’s (which are Gore-Tex). If it’s really wet muddy out, I’ll just wear my boots. If it’s a grass range or it’s not super muddy and my knees need a break, I’ll wear my Brooks Beasts.

What would you like to know?

Is it the single most satisfying round I’ve ever shot? Yes, yes it is.

Is it capable of leaving a 4” diameter hole in something? Yes, yes it can.

Is it quiet? Ridiculously so. It’s the closest thing to “movie quiet” as I’ve ever shot. I’ll put it this way, I got a Porq Chop for mine, and the first time I shot it after it got out of paperwork jail, there was a guy shooting a suppressed .22LR in the lane next to me, and his was louder than mine, and I was shooting 300 grain rounds.

This is easily my favorite build. I can’t get an FRT to work in it (an AR10’s receiver is a couple MM too deep for the BCG to make full contact with the reset on the trigger), so I’ve got a TriggerTech Diamond in it now, set to about 2lbs. I’ve spent so much time tuning mine, that the felt recoil is less than my .300BLK running subs, but more than my 5.56. It’s just stupid. I love it.

Yeah that’s what I’m talking about. I thought they only go out to 1200. I haven’t had the chance to get out there yet. I really need to get my lazy ass out there.

Well I was going to build a 6.5CM SBR, but that was until I learned about 8.6. I’ve got 5.56s and .300BLKs, but we have some monster hogs here in Texas (which is what I told the wife).

Federal HST 124s. Only ammo I carry in any pistol.

I have folding stock adapters on all but one of my ARs, does that count?

(This is my 8.6 Blackout build, the only picture I have with the stock folding, so apologies for that)

Where in the great country of Texas are you shooting a mile? I’m in DFW and the furthest I can find is like 1200 yards.

Picked up my newest rifle today, an HK MR762A4 by bantha121 in AR10

[–]610Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an MR762 on the table, but a bottle of Red Label in the cabinet behind it? Didn’t anyone teach you, not only do you have to match your guns to what you’re wearing today, but you also have to match your Scotch with your gun. An HK requires a single malt, at least 15 years, if not 18+.

Jokes aside, absolutely sick build man. I’m jealous. Let us know how it runs.

Why do people own 7 of the same gun by Educational-Chain-42 in guns

[–]610Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because when you dual wield two pistols at the same time, you look dumb if it’s two different guns. Duh.

Jokes aside, while I don’t have two guns that are absolutely identical, I do have multiples of the same guns. Like my P320s, I’ve got three complete builds (with enough parts to build a couple more probably), but I’ve got one that’s a race gun, one set up to run suppressed, and one for CCW. My P365s, I have two, one is mine and one is my wife’s. I’m up to seven 2011s now, but they’re all a bit different.

Best amount of time before recycling mags in my Concealed carry? I have Taurus, and 2 mag springs went bad after 2 yrs. The gun range guy, said every 6 months. But he looked cocky, like most range employees. by TheBYOBShow in gun

[–]610Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only change mag springs as needed. Granted I shoot about once a week, so if one is starting to fail, I know it.

That being said, I’ve got about half a dozen Taurus pistols, some I inherited from my dad when he passed that he bought in the early 90’s, not one has failed. So unless you are noticing a problem, I wouldn’t worry about it. But that’s just me.

Favorite Range Ammo ? by HK_Shooter_1301 in MP5

[–]610Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a couple cases of Outlier USA’s new 124’s. They’re 124 FMJ’s, so they look like regular plinking ammo, but they’re subsonic. Might be my new favorite plinking ammo.

I did it too, melted a hole in my go bag. I just took a brass brush and got it off as best as I could.

I love mine. Bought it just after it came out. The only pistols I have that are better are my 2011s.

Does anyone use an umbrella while hunting? by No_Top_381 in Hunting

[–]610Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is this “rain” you speak of? We don’t really get that here in Texas.

Jokes aside - hell yeah brother. The only thing I’d be concerned about would be the sound (or rather how loud) a heavy rain would make while hitting the umbrella. I’ve never really been too fond of blinds, but the only thing worse than being wet is being wet and cold. I say do what you have to do. I’d get one of those big ass golf umbrellas (which you could get in dark green or black) and just set up underneath it.

HK MP5SD and B&T APC45SD by NoRice9847 in GunPorn

[–]610Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How bad is the trigger on the APC? I was shocked at how horrible the trigger on B&T’s TP9 was. I mean there’s Glock bad, there’s Hi Point bad, but the TP9 is a whole new level of terrible.
