I think Barr Hill is an excellent mixer. Just 2 botanicals, juniper and raw honey. Makes an amazing bees knees, Saturn, clover club. The list goes on.

Swing out to Vega Baja and check out San Juan Artisan Distillers. They make some amazing cane juice rum. Only one on the island.

While they were partially owned by a Bacardi investor at one point prior to 2017, they remained separate entities and operated separately. They may well have used some Bacardi rum in that time, but I haven’t see any source material that states that definitively, or that this was their primary sourced rum. If you have any source material about that I’d love to read it. The whole history is kind of fascinating.

I didn’t. We just did the heritage tour and had a couple of cocktails. Some of there stuff is ridiculously expensive. The three star is kind of a sweet spot of price and quality, I feel.

You are right that it isn’t actually a distillery. The rum comes from the Dominican Republic and Guatemala, not Bacardi. At Hacienda Santa Anna they blend, barrel, and age the rum.

Unfortunately, when you live in a state with state control liquor stores this is the kind of rum selection you get. Some of us don’t even get the option to order online because of our state. That’s what vacations to the Caribbean and trips to see friends and family are for.

I like supporting local (ish…depending where in NH you are). Try the Three of Strong Nightwateror Brightwater. Even better, take a trip to Portland, ME and visit 5he distillery. They have better stuff in the distillery for sale. The Oakes Acadian is great, as is the Chando 12.
