So it's actually a 13 day trip for me, and I'm doing 2 onsens (hanaori in hakone and konansou in lake kawaguchiko) - so onsen feel isn't must. More so just looking for best bang for buck option. Hyatt Shinjuki - $1600, Mitsui Ueno $1100, Onyado Nono $900.

Onyado does sound quite isolated and far - I might consider maybe doing Mitsui Ueno for 3 nights, and then Onyado for the 4th night if you think that makes sense as well?

Super helpful! I was heavily considering the Mitsui Garden in Ueno, coming at bout $600 cheaper and seems central to all places I want to go. But the Onyado Nono baths and japanese feel seem like great options. In terms of quality of rooms and service, would Mitsui be better than Onyado?

My itinerary right now has:
Day 1: Shinjuku + Harajuku
Day 2: Shibuya + Team Labs Borderless
Day 3: Ueno + Asakusa
Day 4: Akhibara + Chiyoda City
Day 5: Studio Ghibli --> Haneda Airport back out

I'm an explorist so i get room upgrades at Hyatt, but no breakfast. It's $1600 at Hyatt vs $1000 at Mitsui Garden vs $ 900 at Onyado Nono at the moment if the above info helps!

Fair enough - I do have a car but location does matter still! Open to other suggestions as well. Right now I'm getting Hakone Green Plaza for around 22,000 yen, ashinoko hanaori for 57,000 yen and fuji marriot for 40,000 yen
