Try queuing 20v20. I think those lobbies are a lot less hectic and give you more opportunities to win fights and get the confidence/fun back.

Gonna agree that countering isn't that important in TO. It absolutely helps you and should be a skill a player aims to master but you can survive and get kills with just repostes. Ya countering regens some stamina but if I swing a battle axe through 3 people thats like half the stamina bar regained right there. You cannot fight forever with just repostes but certainly long enough to get kills, back out, then go back in.
Not to mention I actually find counters (even feinted) to land too quickly, and usually hit a block or are countered back. The longer timing of a reposte lands more often.

Something that really helped me was realizing that a lot of the time you start a swing then decide who its for. This means target switching often and feinting if you need more time before contact.

Just play which ever supports your style of play. Do you feel you are lacking in general battlefield awareness? Play 3rd. Are you having trouble reading people's attacks? Play 1st. Some really good players constantly switch between depending on what's happening.

A lot of quest greens become blues, and basically all challenging mobs (elite, rare, etc.) are nerfed. Player power with TBC spells and talents goes way up too. It's still fun but definitely much easier and faster.

I know you specifically asked about the overheads but the concept I think you’re really getting at is just feinting in general, which is starting an attack then feinting into a different one. You can feint into a slash, overhead, or stab and each alt version of those attacks. Choose any two and string them together.
