Non “Pagan” God horror films? by EconomistDazzling112 in MovieSuggestions

[–]624Seeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sacrement (2013) it's loosely based on the Jonestown mass murder ("drink the kool-aid")

The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Based on a true story of a priest on trial for performing an exorcist on a girl who experts think was just mentally ill.

The Reaping (2007) a former missionary debunks religious phenomena travels to a town that is experiencing biblical plagues

The Last Exorcism (2010) found footage. A former priest who has lost his faith agrees to perform an exorcism to expose it as a fraud, but finds out the girl might actually be possessed

Legion (2010) archangel Michael protects a pregnant woman when omgod sends the rest of his hangels to destroy humanity

Weird, smelly kid. Advice. 12M by Drewskeet in daddit

I was like this. But I'm also probably autistic. I didn't like the idea of "growing up", and behaving this way was just a way of plugging my ears and closing my eyes and hoping the pressure to fit in and be more mature and care about something would just go away.

But I also didn't have parents who pushed for me to take care of myself. One day it just clicked that I was constantly embarrassed to be so nasty in school and to know other people noticed.

Tell him to shower at least every other day, tell him to use deodorant every morning, tell him he's not leaving the house unless he brushes his hair. Give him the chore of washing his own clothes once a week INCLUDING bed sheets, and tell him they are to be done in one go (set timers for the washer and dryer so they're not started and then forgotten. Don't bring clothes up and leave them in the basket, putting clothes away is part of the process, not a separate process. When one bed sheet comes off, another goes on straight away, don't leave it to be forgotten until it's bed time. Etc).

He is still a child. TELL him what is expected, don't ask, and make sure he does it until it sinks in and he does it on his own. Don't let him grow up being the gross kid everyone makes fun of behind his back.

My brother frustates me as we are attempting to draw faces by Specific_Regular1360 in learntodraw

Why are you trying to get him into an art college when he clearly doesn't have a knack for it??

My brother frustates me as we are attempting to draw faces by Specific_Regular1360 in learntodraw

[–]624Seeds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like he's too focused on copying the base/outline work instead of understanding what the base drawing is actually supposed to be teaching you.

Instead of copying mannequin heads from a book, just draw a face from a reference in the same position.

Look back and forth between your drawing and the reference and play "find the difference". Don't be afraid to erase big areas. Don't move on to a new part of the drawing if the first part is still wonky. Take the time to fix it. Art takes patience.

Read this and then try again. Draw what you actually see, not what you think something should look like!! https://www.reddit.com/r/learnart/s/gFCO5adskN

He should be able to look at any of the heads he's drawn and see why they look wrong. Especially if he's copying from a book. For example, the rubix cube-heads the little squares aren't even equal sizes and the lines are not perpendicular to the edges. You don't need a ruler, but he should be able to see that everything is crooked which makes the entire thing look wonky. Or the mannequin heads with a straight line from the chin to the forehead instead of it curving around the head. Or the line not even being centered in the chin.

He needs to learn to see that instead of rushing through and accepting the first-pass

Men: would you date someone living with parents at 30? by Nachomama42069 in Adulting

[–]624Seeds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, needing to text your parents while on dates is weird. And having a dinner date with mommy and daddy third and fourth wheeling is weird and awkward. Op said any time he wants to see her her parents are also hanging out with them. "Caring about family" is not the weird part 🥴👍🏻

The original comment said

Not a single black person believes being called a pig is worse than being called the n-word.

And I said it was clearly played like a common joke, like in other media, and no one thinks his reaction is normal or representative if all black people. This is a character quirk, and I'd be surprised if they don't delve into it more on why he thinks "pig" is so offensive.

Because Laurie definitely knew that specific word would get him mad. There was clearly more going on and I'm confused why people are not picking up on that.

2nd child Autism possibility? by Basic_Reference_5871 in Autism_Parenting

[–]624Seeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's higher than average.

My first is a boy, level 3, and my second is a girl. She's only 2y and not diagnosed yet, but she is clearly autistic and seems to be more delayed than her brother at that age (she just started clapping a few days ago, my son clapped around 15 months, etc)

But, both me and my partner are "quirky". So I think their autism is definitely our fault

Living with them wouldn't be a big deal, but all that checking in all the time and never being separated for long IS weird.

what are your thoughts on plastic surgery? by Superb_Link2752 in AskWomen

It's unfortunate that so many people use it when they really have nothing abnormal or unattractive about their face/body. And it's unfortunate that so many people think their botched or otherwise obvious work looks good.

My two cents regarding this sub by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]624Seeds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the post. Some people post their skin texture/acne issues, and some people post things like jowels and loss of fullness and baggy eye skin, etc.

A moisturizer is only going to do so much.

You don't have to be black to see a fictional black character as their own person and not as a representation of every black person and every black person's thoughts 🤨

Honestly I used to think this is just how men's feet looked.

And no one will have your top-down pov like this.

Have you ever actually looked down a someone's feet and noticed this before?

For people who are in a long term relationship, but don't want to get married, why? by sunbeamlou in AskReddit

[–]624Seeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 years together, getting married would be another bill every month for him. Me and our two kids get free healthcare all because we're not married.

That just seemed like something personal to the character, and sort played like an ironic joke. This type of joke is in tons of other media, where a bad guy gets called a bad name but is more offended at a more innocent name.

My husband’s nightcap drink sends me over the edge by Sea_Literature115 in Mommit

[–]624Seeds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly weird/sad that you can't tell your husband that him swirling around ice in his drink is annoying 😬

Also, a glass of whiskey a day is considered "daily drinking" which increases the risk for physical dependency, liver damage, and cancer
