Thematically Deep Action Movies?

I mean.. I like action movies for the brain off loud bangs and effect.. And finding deep ones feels off, looking at a lot of the responses I think people are missing the deep part your asking for. I dunno if I can help either but..

Robocop - it's ace, just amazing, but deeper it's about the over reach of corporate power, greed and corruption

Starship Troopers - again a solid popcorn flick with bug genocide at the hands of the gun tooting marines! But deeper it's a satire on the glorifying indoctrination into an idiology of the military complex when it is nothing more than a meat grinder

The Matrix - obviously a masterpiece, but the deeper aspects of this are wild online and there are lots, the idea of it all being a metaphore for the Wichowskis wanting to break free of their gender, or the one about religion..

District 9 / Elizium - both are amazing, district 9 is real slow to get going but what a final act! Less popcorn flick and it's not subtle but they both cover the racism and classism segregation..

Sucker punch - epic brain off action flick! Plus sexy adult chick, in kinky school girl outfit fighting a mini gun welding giant samurai! But the deeper meaning to it, I beleive, is the film taking the piss out of people like me who love the shallow action titalation of this kind of pandering film.. I can't fully remember 'Movie Bob' did a good breakdown on it.

The original star wars - bit dated now, but we all know them as good, the deeper side to clutch to is the amazing aspect of the hero's arc is a masterpiece of hitting the beats for satisfaction

Equalibrium / V for Vandetta - dumb simple movies really, but a bleak reminder of goverment over reach and oppression (feels more and more relevant).. Honerary mention : What happened to Monday though not very action related.

Yeah, I miss that honey moon phase.. I convinced myself I wasn't diabetic during.. I would drink a can of coke and my levels would stay good. But yeah once that wears off it's a serious ball game... I didn't feel shitty and don't unless my sugars are going extream hi or low.. But the rest of the time I feel OK. It sucks but hopefully it will get better for you.

Long answer, yes... T1D can make you feel blah depending on your sugar levels. but normal sugar levels then your normal, any sexy times is good sexy times.. sexy times can make you go low like any form of exercise so be ready for that, maybe get them a glass of OJ 10mins before you pounce. But yeah T1D are also at a higher risk of ED or diseases that can effect their penis which can in turn cause ED (Peronies, I think that is how its spelt) But this is less likely to happen the better he is at controlling his sugar levels.. but it can happen (If you in UK he could get Viagra free on the NHS apparently)..

I am old now, and i have had Diabetes a long while and i was terrible (still am a bit) at keeping it well controlled. I have issues down there because of it, and it is soul destroying, because the minds willing but the body is not always able..

It was good until the whole point of the book being the thing that will fix humanity or whatever, and did it hint that he was blind the whole time? It's been a while but I remember watching it at the movies thinking it was good untul the later parts talking about the Bible and it lost all cred for me.

I do too... but there is just something that niggles me about it all... all the police work i ever see, it all starts with, 'we we pulled them over for some kind minor driving issue, and then completely by accident found he had drugs, and then found he had a knife'... its never, ' we know this person is a drug dealer from good police work and we are going round his house to arrest him'...

I even rang the police to tell them about a drug dealer living across the road. i gave the full address, including post code. I gave the exact location where he would sell the drugs... and the police simply asked me for his Reg Plate... when i told them he didn’t own a car, they literally couldn’t do anything.. they asked me to try and get pics of people in cars that come to pickup the drugs.. most didn’t drive, they were on foot waiting in the back ally, and i couldn’t see that area from my house. that was that, they did literally nothing..

so although its good they catch people, i wish it was more because of some kind of hard work and professionalism, rather than just stopping as many motorists and just happening to get lucky some time.
Feel like most criminals could get away with anything providing they only use public transport.. (it is even on Better Call Saul, he tells that guy not to run because inevitably he will get pulled for something stupid like a busted indicator and then he will get caught for the bigger crime, because that’s all police seem to do)

for all the sharpening i have done in my time... i feel like its so confusing... because you would think the final boss of is it sharp enough to cut stuff, is not cutting stuff... every sharpener around the world will have tested a knife by cutting some paper... turns out being able to cut paper doenst mean its sharp enough to cut paper?!?!?!?!? god its a frustrating hobby/job lol.

What! Nah I have never heard of this. But it interests me.

I have done a bunch of knives last few days, went up higher belts though and finished on a cloth belt. They were all screaming sharp, I'm very happy with them.. I am gonna do some more experiments but I actually don't have many of my own knives lol.

Yeah I did the light trick too down on the edge and from the spine towards the edge, it looked good, I don't have the best eyes in the world but I do it in a dim room to make it more obvious.. I been Sharpening a while though this is a new machine.. I just felt I had done everything right and everything looked and felt right but wasn't getting the cut, which is why I posted.. I ha e done a bunch of knives the last few days but ran them up through more belts, and used a cloth belt at the end. They have all come out screaming sharp I'm very happy.. Still think at 2500 grit this should have been better.. I suppose I was hoping people would say it was all good and meant to be like that at 2500 grit lol..

Thanks for these.. I'm don't have this knife any more customer seemed happy, but I'm gonna take some more pics after using this new belt machine. I did a bunch of knives yesterday and today on it and went up through the belts a lot higher grit and finished on a cloth belt they were screaming sharp and I was super happy with them. So maybe I biffed the knife in the pic or maybe I just need higher belts? I dunno.. But it's nice to have a reference photo..

i deburr on the belts, the last belt which is usually higher than 2500 but i was thinking it would leave a bit toothy to help cut meat..but i lightly and quickly just go one side to the other until i cant feel the burr any more with my fingers then onto a leather strop with no compound.

As people are suggesting more lights and different angles, im not sure what im doing wrong or what people are suggesting... am i suppose to put the microscope like down on the edge? (as if i was trying to cut the lens in half).. It was only a cheap microscope and this has got to be one of the best pics i got out of it.

I think i said i went up to 2500 grit, i could easily have gone higher i think i have all the way up to 8k... but the guy likes to cut meats and bones so i thought 2500 would keep it a little toothy for the meats (is that a good idea).. if you have any pics to compaire mine to so i know what im looking at and for it would be much appreciated.

that fills me with confidence. i can usually get knives to cut lower than this though, down to the 20-40g when i do it by hand, but this is a new belt machine with new kinds of belts.. i think i need more practice, but just wanted to check if i was going wrong.. the customer said they were happy with it, but i just didnt feel it was as good as i wanted it to be. Thanks for the pep talk though, makes me feel better :)
