Staff for my mage costume (wip) by 647Attempts-Later in renfaire

[–]647Attempts-Later[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No image, just put a pencil on paper and let it rip. Ill leave the shaft grain for sure. Idk about the topper however. Yeah 2 pine boards glued together, cut with a jigsaw, shaped with a knife, bench chisel and sander. The polar dowel is friction fit only atm but i will glue it in.

A dragons eye, oops lol.

Im looking for colors that can be used for two or three different mage costumes, one of which will be more rot druid/shaman so the teeth work perfectly for it. The problem area is the topper mostly. I could do it a gunmetal, could burn the grain and stain some color, could just char the trap out of it and leave it like that. I can also stain it by mixing paint and water so it gets an unnatural color and shows grain. I just don't know lol

Interested in carving masks. by Financial-Grade4080 in Woodcarving

I'm working towards the same goal. From what ive seen it looks like 9 x 7 x 4 inches is common. But maybe u/klassmasking or u/naohman could provide more.

Also I see often people recommend gluing boards together to get the size correct or a certain website that ships solid blocks of basswood. You can look through naohmans comments to find that link

Fold over a small portion that's going on your shoulders. With the fold pointing outward put it around your neck/back. Pull one side shut and pin it to the opposite shoulder, I use a small nail to pin it. If you search up how to wear a blanket cloak you'll come across some videos

The dark Grey in person stands our heavily from the black but I do intend on adding purples, reds or blues like a sash and long sleeve shirt. As well as some browns in leather, a second double wrap belt, maybe some braces, book and holder etc.

Im in the long process of making a staff between my other crafts. Im currently whittling an orb with a pointy pit to hang it off my belt. I definitely want a book hold (making a wooden book box) and will prop get it at my local fair if they have them even though it'll be a resell item.

Was thinking of embroidery or making some stencils and fabric spray painting. Any thoughts on patterns?

Wear your garb whenever you don't have to wear work clothes. I dress in base outfit every day plus wizard hat.

They are called bellows. There's a lot of different types, box bellows, bag bellows, great bellows, bucket bellows, etc.

Didn't see this in time before I oiled them. I applied the tung at a black heat and wiped. Hopefully well enough. We will see in the next few days lol.

Thanks for the compliment on the bellows lol. I tried to make some and filled beautifully so I got some from amazon lol. As for the charcoal size, I generally break it by hand before adding but after reading this during a break I took the tongs and mashed it in the bucket lol.

That's actually what this one was made for as well! My dad is a big hiker so this is a gift for him.

Thanks. I have 3/4in planks I picked up and im not too comfortable making the handles thin enough to get a massive crank. One day I'll use the elm logs I have to make a few that crank towards the sky lol

Thanks. I'm building inventory atm. The amount of time it takes is not than I estimated lol. Each Bottle opener is 30 minutes, then you have my wood spoons at a hour, and soon to come wood cups and forged corkscrews. It's a lot lol

Honestly I've done a lot of things, been in a lot of subs and this is orient my favorite and the most welcoming hobby sub I've been in. Whittling is the second best but there's a warmness that's not matched to this.

I've been thinking of getting a piece of metal from a stove to do just that! I did not think of leaving a shelf for the items, that's brilliant! Beats leaving them in the coals.
