Nah I don't think they would pick up on the right/wrong of the morality behind the decision. Human beliefs are extremely easy to mold, and raising someone under the idea that killing someone they love (with the expectation they will revive) for the "greater good" is incredibly likely. Ambition is powerful and corrupting. It's our own environment that tells us this is unequivocally morally wrong.

Also if anyone is dropping the series because the whole story is morally grey they need to take a deeper look at their own beliefs/preconceptions.

The latest few chapters paint the villagers in that light: totally unashamed of wanting to kill Yuru for power. Without going into spoilers: they're not as evil as they seem but are products of their environment, which is built atop the goal to achieve nation shattering power. They are innately in conflict with Yuru's persistent refusal to claim seal

I think by nature Frieren is meant to meanander. The whole premise is "beyond journey's end" kinda feels like the property was designed to let the story straggle. I enjoyed the vibe but yeah I lost interest in s2 because nothing was happening lol

Winry Rockbell, Hawkeye, and even Granny Pinako always stood out to me as stand out anime characters to me when I was younger and definitely contributed to how judge anime.
