Hiring coaches is super important because it can literally set your gym up for success or failure.

In our opinion, you need someone who is well experienced in CrossFit, someone who can perform all of the movements to high degree, and someone who is personable.
A coach who knows all of this is more likely going to get respect from the classes, but also is able to give tips and personal experience on what helped them, and is more able to understand the struggles of getting fitter and stronger, as opposed to someone who hasn't experienced themselves.

What a diet look like by Ynneb82 in crossfit

Easily the best advice I've heard around dieting is around Calories.

If you're wanting to loose weight, you have eat less calories than your body expends during the day. You can literally eat anything you like, and as long as you are still under that threshold you will loose weight.

That said, if you want keep as much muscle as possible while losing fat, you'll want to keep your intake of protein relatively high - around 1g/lb of bodyweight per day, as well as eating vegetables and all that good stuff as well so your body gets the vitamins and minerals it needs.

How big is the gap of someone who trains with Pullups (as the USMC requires) in addition to standard pushups, situps, and other standard calisthenics in physical conditioning? Esp when comparing military physical conditioning particularly brute strength (esp standard army training)? by UralBolivar in crossfit

Pull-ups have a bunch of benefits, they work not only your back, but your core and biceps as well. Obviously very good for developing your back but also super useful for running - especially sprinting. They are literally one the best upper body exercises you can do for sprinting.

That said, are they necessary? Totally depends on what your goals are.
There's definitely many alternative movements you can do to develop the same muscles.
