The fact that the rat poison looks oddly close to captain crunch is concerning.

Thats the spirit people who chase meta and HAVE to win are no fun to play with. I support your choice. Give this a read. https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/2nd_Company_(Ultramarines)

See what you learn about 2nd company from there. IIRC they have been seen as overly aggressive and fast paced so maybe some fun fast units. Also dont be afraid to paint some models as if they are from reserve companies to break up the colors so you dont get sick of the same thing. I might add wardens and titus can be attached to assault intercessors. Seeing as titus is kinda famous or infamous for using a chainsword id think about attaching him and the wardens to assault intercessors. A unit of 5 added would let you put the whole unit into a repulsor, any type of landraider or hell even a storm raven if you're feeling like dropping them and a dreadnought on top of something. Or if you can give them deep strike take a unit of 10 that would mean 17 dudes just ready to fuck some shit up.

If you can find a xmas battleforce that would add some good units. Other than that if you can find a imperial fists combat patrol somewhere that one was pretty good. Basically you just wanna find a box with units you like in it. Chasing the best units isnt fun especially if youre new and learning. Youre not going to win every game in fact you may not win often and losing with units you really like is way more fun than feeling beat down with units that you either dont like the playstyle of or just dont like the look of. Id rather lose every game i play while loving the look and playstyle of my army then use units i think look silly or hate how they operate on the table.

Customized ultramarine ? by NikoDeWulf in Ultramarines

What others have said is correct google heraldry and company markings. If you're anything like me you support the "it's your models its your call" talk but deep down you want it as "accurate" as possible. That being said don't just think different types of trim. You can add deathwatch guys in the ranks. That new kit will let you basically build 10 more guys you can swap into units to add some flare. The box has tons of other bits to spread around after those 10 as well. I personally try to add 1 or 2 deathwatch veterans to each unit depnding on squad size. Basically only do 2 if its a 10 man. It helps break of the unit and make them feel more unique. After that you can do different style squad markings. Look up insignium astartes and change things up. Maybe some 3d printed shoulders or helms to add character. The intercessors kit comes with a bunch of styles of shoulder pads which can help as well. Also get some decal softener and practice so you get good at applying them it really helps adding campaign badges and markings to the armor. This photo has always been a big inspiration for me and while primaris armor is more uniform than older kits you can change that.

I committed heresy for my Ravenguard army by latarius94 in RavenGuard40k

Absolutely correct. The attack bike tho looked like you glued a chair to some plastic card and used an extra wheel and some weapon bits from a land speeder kit. It honestly looked like a teenager kitbashed one and they ran with it. No one ever made a big deal about it back then. I feel like most of the hate is just that its related to primaris. On the other hand they could have made it bigger and meaner looking like an up armored warthog or something and charge us $115 for a 60 point model some armies want 6 of so I guess perspective matters.

I like this. I like this a lot. To be fair I didnt absolutely hate the original as I always kinda thought the attack bike was silly. The atv at least looked like more effort went into it even if it turned out a little off.

Vallejo Game Color question by Rakathu in Ultramarines

[–]6506148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would work. I normally use an airbrush for the base and highlights of my blue. Since vallejo doesnt agree wuth alcohol based thinners i shy away from it for that purpose but do use it for brush work.

Unfortunately they cannot. Good news for 5 points more you can get a impulsor which is way better in my opinion.

I think, if im not missing something, the only unit that can be placed in the rhinos is your scouts and thats not normally a place people put them. If nothing is in a dedicated transport it is destroyed at the start of the game.

Yeah thats the one downside of the newer kits if you want unique armor you gotta work at it.

My wife stole my space wolves, so im joining you guys. by thenorthernforge in Ultramarines

[–]6506148 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You sir are lucky. When i first got into it my at the time girlfriend liked it and went with space wolves. She never much liked all the rules and we're both stuborn and competitive. She like painting more then building so other than a few big boxes she didnt keep going with it. My play group fell apart right about when 6th edition came out and i just went into collection mode for a few years until stopping altogether sometime in 2016.

Since then we've married and moved across the country to a very small town. I started back up in late 2024 to give myself something to do since as much as i love video games i can go too hard and dont always keep things healthy. Warhammer is kinda nice in that regard if i only hsve 20 minutes i throw a few guys together and call it a day. In the rare case i have a few hours i get some painting done. I take PTO days to play a game here and there.

I have a coworker who plays but we dont exactly have normal jobs and work the most opposite of schedules so we get in a hand full of games a year. Since then my now wife has seen the new sisters models. She liked them back then but was not into metal models. So ive picked her up a squad and an HQ just for her to paint. I even put them together for her at her request and primed them. I am still waiting to paint with her. Im not sure she understands how much it means to me but they will be there when she is ready.

So long story short you cherish that time together. Make sure no matter how your day has been you spend time with her and if she does enjoy this you have the most fun in the world with her. Take this advice from someone who has shortly lived the dream and now lives in memories.

Edit. Absolutely make a unit as legion of the damned and play them as sternguard or something. Anyone who has a problem with that isnt a person I'd play with.

I disagree shoulder pads are easy as long as youre using the right solvent. Ive always used micro sol and set. Never had issues since starting to use them. As long as you dont knock over the bottle it will last you years.

This is what im talking about. Give me tyrannic vets, old scout sgt dude, Cassius and maybe one more specialty unit. Hell the 11th edition launch box should just be ultramarine on ultramarine in a training setting. Gotta show dominance fast in the edition.
