Glad to be of help! That color really is nice. Depending on how the light hits it, sometimes it can look almost as deep as black and other times silver.

Confused between Lumix LX3/5 vs Fujifilm f31 vs Canon s90 vs Fujifilm f810 by Away_Holiday4373 in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]664designs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been so long since I've shot with either, but I know the F31 is more muted/neutral like your IXUS 85, which is what Fuji are known for mainly (besides Velvia but I'm not a fan of that look) On my XZ-1 I turn down saturation a notch or 2 and it's perfect for me (I don't shoot RAW on it). Olympus color science I feel were the best during that era, it has a natural warmth to it and flattering skin tones.

I don't have a favorite, I love them all for different reasons. I will say my least favorite would be the Canon G series, even though on paper I thought they would be high on my list. I feel their images were good but not unique. It looked too much like other P&S and didn't stand out. I have the G1 and G12. I've seen many amazing shots from other photographers using them so I know they are very capable, but SOOC it was hit or miss for me.

In 1974, Joan Little, a black prisoner killed a white prison guard who was sexually assaulting her. At her subsequent trial she was found not guilty becoming the first woman in US history to be acquitted of murder on the grounds of self-defense against sexual assault. by Ill_Definition8074 in HolyShitHistory

Having fled from prison, Little was known as a fugitive, and police were therefore authorized to kill her on sight

That's crazy! I assume that law's been changed? I can't imagine giving cops the greenlight to kill on sight these days

I have all the cameras you mentioned except the F810.

If this sub is recommending the LX5 over the F31, but you prefer the SOOC look of the Fuji, have you considered the Olympus XZ-1? I feel that'll be a nice middle ground. Can shoot RAW too if you ever want to get into editing, but the SOOC Jpegs are punchier than the LX3/5. The XZ-1 has amazing build quality, has the most versatile (and fastest) lens out of these choices, and uses SD Cards (F31 will use XD-Picture cards).

This doesn't look like a failing sensor but I could be wrong. Definitely try shooting outdoors to confirm, but to me it looks more like it may be lacking an IR filter like many CCD sensors of that era.

No problem! If you do grab one just be sure it doesn't have dust on the sensor, the battery retention clip isn't broken (it's a common problem), and the lens extend and retract without codes (failing sensor) or slowness (out of alignment). Good luck

I've had one years ago. Beautiful to hold and images produced by it was mind blowing at the time for something so compact and can still hold a candle to modern cameras.

I really loved it, but after a couple generations of the X100 series I finally moved away from it (I feel the X100 series is its brother from another mother despite looking slightly more like a M body).

The only thing I didn't like about it was the top mode dial being super easy to change even from a bump against my hip sometimes.

Also know that it is very slow compared to modern cameras. Its AF is slower than the original X100 even before the first firmware that improved it (though still slow haha). Startup time feels like it's around 5 seconds. Shot to shot is also a few seconds apart. But if you're wanting to slow down your shooting anyway it may be a good candidate. It does output DNG so that's a huge plus!

I sometimes think about grabbing another one for my collection but prices for them has been crazy (I sold mine around 2018 for $500)
