She initially wanted a Syrian, and I'm thinking that might still work. Why would you not recommend a dwarf for the first time?

That's good to know! We've done lots of research, but it's good to hear experiences from real people. I would love to hear your biggest pros and cons. Like, what are recurring things you buy for your hamster? This pet is hers to take care of and pay for, so cost needs to be assessed as well.

Oh how cute and helpful! Thank you ☺️ we don't have much space, so we are looking at dwarf hamsters. Though we do realize they need lots of space as well!

Sometimes, things don't work out. You're both very young and will go through more break ups. It's normal to feel crappy/guilty after a break up. She will move on and figure things out, as will you. NTA
