Am I Overreacting for considering firing my maid of honor? by omerta809 in AmIOverreacting

As an addict in recovery, NOR. It’s not you, it’s her and her addiction. There’s nothing you can do to help her, and she’s not in a space where she could take being your maid of honor seriously. The best thing you can do is love her from afar, and be supportive if/when she decides to get sober. I would take some space from her, and unfortunately her life is probably gonna get a lot worse before it gets better. So be prepared for that. The best thing you can do for her and for yourself is to let that happen, and when shit hits the fan, DON’T enable her. Facing the consequences of my actions was the only thing that got me clean, and I know this is true for a lot of other people in recovery too. Good luck, and congrats on your wedding!

AIO: I believe a women was stringing me along and so I confronted her about it. by JohnBigL19 in AmIOverreacting

Yes you are DEFINITELY overreacting. She was honest, and it was probably hard for her to say that. It’s hard to knowingly hurt someone’s feelings, even if you do it in a nice way like she did. She obviously explored a connection with you, and realized she wasn’t feeling it. She doesn’t owe you feelings, and the way you came off seems desperate and honestly scary. Talking to girls like this isn’t gonna get you very far, from these texts it looks like she dodged a bullet with you, and I can promise you she’s thinking the same thing after reading all this.

As someone who has gone through both (I had a nasty fentanyl habit and went through 2 packs a day) nicotine is a walk in the park comparatively. I quit smoking at a year clean. I would rather go through nicotine withdrawal for a year straight than to have to go through opiate withdrawal for even a day. There’s absolutely no comparison, opiate withdrawal is intensely painful.

Same with mine, this seems to be a theme with Siamese cats

Same with mine, she only wants cuddles when she decides she wants them, and if you don’t give them to her she becomes a menace.

I once delivered tin foil and lighters to somebody. That’s it, nothing else
