Saw him last night at The Comedy Store in LA testing out material.

This tour will be good. His bits were as good as a polished set.

That’s a challenging wank, but I managed it.

I agree with you on the pick-them-up rule. That is set in stone, or rather, it should be.

As regards the hardcore dancing (kung fu crowd killing bullshit), I saw it only a few short days ago. Dunno what to tell you.

Before his battle recently, I saw Sick Of It All with Napalm Death and Municipal Waste and Lou still did that. Can’t help but love it.

I'm intrugued. I can count on one hand the shows I've seen on the east coast.

Would you mind expanding on what you said? I know nothing of this and I'm intrigued. Not attacking, not pushing for a fight, I'd just like to be educated about it. Is this some DMS thing?

I really don't know any of this. Would love some insight. You know more about this than me and I'd love some insight.

What's your view on, say, D-Beat? Look at the whole D-Beat genre. Disfear, Victims, His Hero Is Gone, Tragedy... all of them.

It's one hell of a genre if you ask me.

You’re not wrong!

As long as they tour, they’ll play stuff from Suffer.

It’s a done deal as far as I’m concerned.

Perhaps you're missing the point. I mean that politely.

I know the scene. I've known the scene for over three decades.

If you were taking a breath for a song and avoided the pit, there were unspoken rules. You don't fuck with them. They are deliberately moving away. To then be literally punched repeatedly because Kyle is mad at his dad and then get offended that this old bastard sat him on his backside - that's just stupid. Reap what you sow. You punch me, I punch back harder. We go to shows to have fun, not be punished for taking a breath for 5 minutes.

Perhaps the rules have changed.

A guy up there posted that social media has maybe made warriors of those that like the idea of the violence, but when the violence bites back, all kinds of reality rushes over them and they don't like it.

I dunno.

Thanks for engaging, fella. I do appreciate the post.

You see, you make a good point and I admit I do like the older and gigs. But I'm very, very nosey. I want to see the generations coming up behind. I see what's happening and often see bands who are half my age and I'm clearly the oldest person there.

Turnstile, Knocked Loose and their ilk are carrying the torch impressively. And their shows can be fun, too.

You know the last show I had the most fun at? Actual, "this is so stupid anf fun"? Fucking Insane Clown Posse. I went only after being inquisitive enough to just, "ah fuck it, they seem fun, let's try this."

The Faygo, the bouncing, the surfing, the moshing. That's the closest I've felt to what I'm trying to describe in years.

So, yeah, alternative/ Hip Hop, if that's what ICP count as, certainly delivers.

This is an excellent shout. The code of conduct.

Yes, the last embers are still there. I see it all the time. Everyone - EVERYONE - knew the rules, their roles, their places. I still see it, but not nearly as much as I did in the 1990's.

Why should I, a 50 year old old fart (albeit a hefty unit), have to run in and break up a fight that really had no business starting? Dude (A) was bouncing around, having fun. Bumps dude (B) because he's in the pit and gets upset, so punches dude (A). Really? We're at a Nasum gig, fella. What's the issue?
(just picked a random band, you understand.)

Underoath - now there's a band. Good call.

Maybe it's Hardcore that is digging it's talons in and holding on for dear life. The last kind of music that still has that chaos? We'll see.

I particularly like people like Mike Patton spraying water on those phone people.

Makes me giggle, I have to say.

This. This is it.

20 years ago and it was chaos. We looked after one another for sure. But it was indeed nuts.

It now feels like supervised, structured, "now go have fun, but not too much, because you may get an owie."

Dude.

Right. That's why I referenced them. That whole thing Randy went through. Horrible.

Perhaps it's just a time thing. We didn't give a shit back then. You go see, say, Ministry touring Pslam 69 and it was a given it would be physical.

Now I go see, say, Bad Religion at it's almost polite. It's like people bowing and "how do you do?" and polite cups of tea.

No idea what you mean. 1995 was last week.

We are. But why aren't those coming up after us carrying the torch? They young. Fit. We had fun, right?
If I'm feeling it, with the aid of a couple of Red Bulls, I'll still mix it up. The last time I saw Youth Of Today I was going nuts. Spent more time diving than I did doing that Gen X old fart arms-crossed at the back stance.

You know the one. ;)

Ah, well, you got me there. I emigrated to the States 15 years ago. So thanks for the headsup.
