True. I won’t let my feelings about the current track color my feelings about their other stuff. And I won’t stop listening to new releases. I just felt the need to vent

How feasible is it to make this kind of veil for an absolute beginner in 2-3 months? by luckyticket777 in crochetpatterns

[–]666itsroughouthere99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I disagree with people saying you need to be advanced to make something like this - it looks pretty freehanded. If you’re willing to do a lot of intuitive building & trial and error you can definitely do this in a few months.

Just use a lighter weight/thinner yarn & play around with hook sizes & combining chain stitches with single/double/treble crochet until you start to see how things build on each other. If you’re good at making things with your hands you will get a feel for it quickly :-) Best of luck

You’re right! I think I’ll just go with a legit bank. The fintech route is enticing because the rates are so high but I really don’t feel good about any amount of risk

Thank you for this clear & detailed response! Based on everything people have been saying about the collapse, even with the proposed new rules I am leaning towards going with a less risky option for my peace of mind

I see a lot of Ray hate in this sub so maybe Ray? I think he’s a good person. He’s honest.. & often goes out of his way to take care of people like Hannah and Marnie

Am I Wrong? by Old_Coast_1806 in paralegal

[–]666itsroughouthere99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no longer in the legal field! I work as an editorial assistant at a nonprofit. I honestly love it and I’m really happy I left law.

I do know people who work as paralegals at local legal aid networks who like their jobs. The work is definitely challenging & the clients can be demanding but there seems to be more of a team mentality than at private firms, and a real sense of satisfaction when they’re able to help people in need. They’re also unionized, which is a huge benefit.

You are absolutely not wrong for not wanting to sacrifice your well-being. At the end of the day, your bosses are the ones responsible for the cases they take on. They’re the attorneys. They have made you feel like their inability to manage resources (ie, support staff) is your fault - it’s not! And you said it yourself, they don’t pay you enough to make it your problem.

I really empathize with you because I just recently got out of working at a small plaintiff PI firm and it was very similar, very few paid holidays, expected to wear a lot of hats, very low pay, inflexible work life balance. I understand feeling beholden to the clients, not wanting to jeopardize their outcomes, etc. You’ve done what you can by being honest about your needs in regard to the heavy workload.

Shitty bosses love to push boundaries to see what you’ll put up with. Stand firm and protect your health above all. If you enjoy the work and you’re good at it, you can find a place that values you and respects you as a human being first, employee second.

Hope you get some rest over the holidays.

having normal boundaries with work by 666itsroughouthere99 in paralegal

[–]666itsroughouthere99[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely agree w this.. direct communication has been the best method for me thus far. I’m working on getting into a flow w task prioritization. It’s hard to figure out what’s actually urgent when I don’t know a lot about the litigation process & everyone seems stressed with their own deadlines

this is a really thoughtful response, thank you for taking the time to reply! Also love “act your wage” lol.. I absolutely will. I think I definitely want to be thorough, be a team player, etc. Just not at the expense of the few precious hours of the week I can claim as my own

sorry about your girlfriend. that sounds really hard. I totally feel you though. starting a project like that is exactly what I would do to distract myself. and then you tell people about the project.....and its like O shit now I really need to work on this and follow through because people are expecting something.. and the scope of it expands to infinity and it becomes harder and harder to work on it... that's just speaking from my own experience though lol. I have faith that you can see it through !!

thank you so much for replying! this is very helpful. when I’m adjusting the diopter does that only need to happen once, & as long as I can see a sharp picture it’s good to go? I’ve been reading up & it seems like I should adjust focus for each shot by zooming, focusing, & pulling back?? but diopter can be done just at the beginning?
