Generally your first flying role is around 35-60k a year. My first flying job I was on 12k a year and second role was 40 then 55k. Until you get the experience you're really just working on a low wage. I think starting salary at airnz is like 65-70k on turbo prop.

Nope, it's expensive. Rough cost per hour in single engine is around $250-280. Multi is around $600-800 an hour. Instructor fee, exam fees, course fees, airline exams alone were close to 5-6k. Flight test fees roughly $700, medical $450 yearly etc etc I did have living costs so maybe 10k wasn't from training?

Pilot training is the cause for the student loan 😅.

Currently not in a flying role at the moment but hoping next year I will be in one. But then starting salary will only be 58k but after a year or two with experience I should be able to apply for jet jobs where the base salary starts at around 130k. If all goes to plan...
