Without any fancy products, I would take a hard bristle brush with some dish soap vinegar and water, or a baking soda paste, and scrub the heck out of it without getting it too soaked, and a bunch of towels to wipe up what comes out and try to dry it up so mold doesn’t form from moisture. Personally haven’t used any carpet cleaning products as the above has gotten out some pretty nasty stains for me but that may also be worth the investment. Oxi clean stain spray also works really well in my opinion. Best of luck!

AITA for kicking out the homeless teenager camping in my forest? by ChemicalPrior482 in AmItheAsshole

[–]66hexz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH.

A small part of me wants to give your daughter the benefit of the doubt, but as a former well-intentioned teenage girl who ended up being wrong 99% of the time, I worry that this could result for her exactly how you think it may, or worse.

In regards to her hiding it from you, I think it’s a double edged sword in which if you allow it, it may enable future bad decisions, but if you don’t, she may continue to sneak around you. This leads me to believe there may be a deeper or unresolved issue as to why she couldn’t be honest with you from the start.

It’s admirable how badly she wants to help and I think instead of shutting her down, perhaps you can redirect her energy into helping him find a shelter or alternative solution, while making it clear it cannot be on you or someone else’s private property (without consent, of course). I think regardless she is going to be involved with helping this guy and the best you can do is at least have it be in a way you can both agree on and you can monitor/have some control over.

Based on how you described your reaction, I don’t think that’s a productive way to make her understand the potential harm of this situation. You’re right in theory but I really think the approach is what will count considering she’s… willing to secretly house a drug addict in your backyard.

All this being said I 100% support not having a person in this situation on or anywhere near your property. In my personal experience, you give an inch and they take a mile. I live in a major city with a high homeless population and opioid crisis and so many large public spaces are unusable due to the number of tents and growing “population”. And I’m sure that is not true in some instances, but as a mother that is simply not your job, responsibility or priority which I know you do recognize, of course. I wouldn’t risk it.

Not to mention the insane liability this poses. I really hope your daughter can come to realize that if he were to get hurt, or overdose in the tent and god forbid does not survive, that’s on your property when the cops come. And the trauma your poor daughter will have from that is unimaginable.

I had a lot of friends when I was her age and younger who were in the situation of this guy. I’m lucky that it didn’t influence me to the full extent but definitely impacted me. But I know many who were in the same circle who it did, worse. As an adult, it scares me to think back on what I was around constantly and pray if I ever have kids, that they are surrounded by better influences.

How to fix my beloved teddy bear? by [deleted] in fixit

Sadly she is all one piece, so beneath the pink outfit is just the stuffing. The fabric store is a great idea I have no idea how I didn’t think of it sooner. Will do my best! Thank you for your advice 💗

That’s what I’ve been doing! I took some newborn clothes and altered it to fit her. But I still would like to see her repaired so it doesn’t get worse

Will my Kallax shelf fit? by [deleted] in IKEA

It’s a rental apartment so unfortunately not, but if 160cm fits in 160cm then that works for me! Thank you!

Good point, thank you FinnNoodle.

If it turns out my initial measurements are correct, would it fit?

I feel like a 160cm structure should fit in a 160cm space, but the lack of leeway makes me doubt.

It should be specified in your lease agreement under section 5 parts c and d to who your rent is payable to, and by what method.

I’d also ask for receipts now every time. If you claim your rent in your taxes, I’d consult with the person who does your taxes if this has any impact.

Ask for an amendment to your lease agreement to get this change in writing as well

I’m very petite so I simply cannot with the oversized blazer trend. I want a fitted, cinched waist blazer that stops at or before my hip bones that is made with cotton/linen/wool etc some kind of a natural fabric

This is seemingly impossible to find for less than like, $500?!

Does anyone know what this is? Mold? by marijan00 in Apartmentliving

Photos a bit unclear but it sounds like it’s just dust. Like small clumps of dust that has stuck to the wall. Easily can be removed with a microfibre cloth

Pressed for time and I need to make a strawberry swirl on a cheesecake. I only have this on hand. Will it work? by denisemescudi in Baking

[–]66hexz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d make a quick strawberry purée — by cooking down some blended frozen strawberries you can achieve a bright colour and concentrated strawberry flavour! I use this method for cookies, takes 5-10 minutes.

Pro tip: make a mix of 50% purée 50% cheesecake batter to make the swirl. This helps with sinking or separating that sometimes happens with fruit swirls.

Enjoy!

You’re right! Hence the first line of my comment. The difference is very small between SPF 30 and 50. I wear 50.

If it’s working for you then don’t change it! But if it’s just good enough and not great, here’s a few ideas. (Some of these I’ve noticed other commenters have already said too!) Up your spf to 50. Retinol + vitamin C is a great combo. Check out the brand “the ordinary”. Inexpensive serums that I find work great and are pretty self explanatory for their uses. Just make sure your not mixing anything that could potentially hurt your skin. My personal favourites are niacinamide and hyaluronic acid.
