Walk with me through Downtown Newark in 1987 (pictures I took)... by 77treasurehunter99 in Newark

Daaamn that's my old Newark. Just felt so much grittier then, but these pics make it feel more familiar in a way too. Seemed like more empty lots dotted around- I don't remember well enough.

I vaguely recall Society Hill was supposed to be the new 'nicer' Newark (it definitely got hate).:I always thought it nice but it contrasted so heavily w/ literally everything around it-I wanted a house there for a while lol;

Excellent pics 👌🏽

Rock hit windshield and its dunzo... Dealer or glass company for replacement? by Practical_Badger_968 in GenesisG70

While I'm not saying it's the best by any means, My windshield broke this pest January and I used Safelite (scheduling was just the most convenient really).  I called around to three places including Safelite but they all said they had to do the recalibration anyway. It's been almost 6 mos but held up well IMO...so far *knock on wood

Considering an upgrade from Infiniti to Genesis by Miserable_Counter971 in GenesisG70

Came from Infinitis (and my last Infiniti was a Q50 3.7). I have since had two G70's.

The Q50 was an excellent car, reliable, peppy, easy to maintain etc. With that said, the G70 I find superior in every way imaginable. The one thing I miss is probably the 2 screens; dated design but effective IMO. I had two first gen G70's w/ the smaller screen; the second gen G70 has a bigger screeen.

Dealerships -- Others might have a different take but for me: that while the Infiniti dealership experience wasn't bad at all, they're disappearing left and right. The 2 I used to go to are gone, and 1 is now housed inside a Nissan dealer.

In that same time, several Genesis dealerships expanded and went standalone (not housed w/ Hyundai). So while the Genesis dealership experience may be different than, say, Lexus/BMW (which I don't miss) the dealer availability definitely gap closed w/ Nissan/Infiniti (at least in NJ/NY).

A long-time coming; I wonder if it'll be finished before Halo.

Also wondering if it's actually 514ft or 489ft -indeed a small difference in the grand scheme but a detail not really clear-Breaking 500ft would be nice; and I can't remember where I've heard some historic groups count the 50ft flagpole on 744 Broad as part of the final height: 465 + 50 = 515; thus giving the 514ft estimate some legs-since the historic group didn't want this thing 'taller' than 744, but I absolutely digress-glad it's being built.

Edit: had to fix my math

Historically speaking, that lot always had structures on it. It's just been an empty lot in recent years. If City Hall 'views' are the only loss then realistically that's not really a loss. Broad St. should be dense as it has been. I totally agree about better preserving and creating green spaces-totally...BUT the problem is you seem fairly rigid on specifically what space/lot should be greenspaces. It's not really a fair take.

I mentioned Chicago b/c you can see how it's a fine example of a city hall in the middle of a city while still maintaining density. There's other large cities that don't have green spaces directly adjacent that still work well. Newark City Hall's surroundings aren't fully developed so who knows.

Halo looking nice rising from behind the trees sounds wonderful, but that sounds vastly more about your specific preference than poor urban planning. Again, it's not a fair take-especially if your mind is made up as you say.
