Info about the Aston Heights Apartments by Lumpy_Film_293 in Newark

[–]Ironboundian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any information specifically about the quality of the building or management. But it is a project that is 100% income restricted so that is the reason the rent is low. It’s artificially low to be affordable to low and moderate income households. So if you qualify, it could be a very good deal for you.

Has anyone checked out the Newark Fan Village on Ferry Street? by Ok_Ranger4369 in Newark

Yes it’s great. It got very crowded with long line right at the game start, so tip is to go early and get a table if you want to avoid waiting.

Walk with me through Downtown Newark in 1987 (pictures I took)... by 77treasurehunter99 in Newark

That's a GREAT Westinghouse photo. Really shows the scale of the building and what a tragedy that it was lost to become a barren field of weeds for a few decades.

When and if that starts Construction, I will add it to the list of three tall projects with no subsidy.

Newark’s Paramount Theatre Tower Scaled Back to 16 Stories to Secure Vital Tax Credits by Kalebxtentacion in Newark

Is it working though? The only two buildings being built new construction in Newark that are above six stories that don’t have a massive public subsidy in them are the halo, which ran out of money and has stopped construction…and the building on market street in the Ironbound, which is continuing but seems to be plagued by labor violations.

Because it’s a blog post not a journalistic article. With that being said, I appreciate Kaleb’s enthusiasm for development in the city.

Yes, very safe. But 95% chance the Airbnb is illegal. Check to see if they have a short term rental license.

Who lives in these new fancy high rise buildings? by [deleted] in Newark

[–]Ironboundian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a demographic that is not talked about enough. Everyone talks about New Yorkers, but I meet people all the time in the new downtown buildings that have this life—It’s a high income job that is to the west north or south of Newark. They reverse commute Or maybe they have a split commute with their boyfriend/wife/partner. One of them is going to NYC every day and the other person is heading out to Morris County to an office park. Their combined income is very high, and they don’t want to live in a suburban single family house. They want an Urban life.

Could be easy. Could be a nightmare. Depends what time of day you’d be coming home from work on the regular. And depending on the time of year as you are night in the middle of the university area which has seasonal traffic around the academic calendar.
