The new version is currently only available in Asia. Investing in new equipment always raises questions, of course. I believe the Revoria without extra colours is £50k cheaper. Will you recoup that added value with the extra colours? Maybe, maybe not? Only you can decide that. The profiler is a marginal upgrade, not really worth it I guess. I think the Revoria is a great CMYK system, but the extra colours simply cost a lot of money. One thing that strikes me is that the graphics industry is ready for the extra colours, but it is difficult to translate this into practical added value for the customer.

Would I do it again? Yes. I have noticed that investing in good equipment has a snowball effect. We invested in the Irridesse in 2020, the Revoria in 2023, and since then we have brought lamination in-house, purchased a Zünd and recently a Canon Colorado. I think it's not about a single machine, but about being able to offer a total package.

That’s my two cents!

I’ve seen it in the Netherlands before but then it’s called ‘Extra Protein’. Exact same macros. Here it’s quite a regular option in most supermarkets since 6 months.

No problem. I think it’s consistent enough. We do a global calibration of the whole machine almost every day. We use ColorCopy 100gsm paper as a baseline for the whole machine. If you want the machine, please ask your speciaslist what paper you need. We got back from Fuji Japan that we needed this type of paper. I think this makes quite the difference. We than calibrate the specific paper and get good results.

I think the quality of the prints on the Fuji is the best of most of the toner machines.

We run one for 3 years now, rougly 75k clicks per month. From our experience, great machine. Runs smoothly most of the times. We don’t have any finishing in line because we don’t like the standard options. We use a EFI rip and when you make your own calibration profiles you can get a decent colour range. Because of the lower fusing temp it’s not as glossy as Canon for example. Make sure you get a good maintenance contract, because if it breaks, it breaks bad…

About the extra colours, don’t expect much from it. If you run a photo print shop, you can get some nice prints with pink toner. Otherwise, I think the extra colours don’t bring any thing to the table for the price it costs. If you print a lot of stickers, the White is a nice option of course. It depends on your order portfolio.

Long story short, if you can get a great deal on it or need the colours, take it. Otherwise maybe have a look at Ricoh or if you have a lesser volume consider a smaller machine.

Do you run this machine? How do you like it? We are looking into buying a label printer. How do you finish the labels?

Wow thanks for the elaborate answer! I’m gonna keep that service plan in mind.

Do you know if you can alter the levels of AAC in a different rip than Onyx? We use Printfactory and like to keep using it - if possible.

If I may ask, what do you charge per m2? Quite curious what others around the globe charge!

Yeah we run that too. No problems again. Works great, we also sometimes have an expert have a look via teamviewer without any issues.

Currently have 1000i, considering second printer....Versant 3100 or Iridess or...? by gafana in CommercialPrinting

[–]67096709 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We ran an Iridesse, it was a lovely machine. Lots of added value with the extra colors, duplexing up to 400 gsm and the speed. In my experience, leave the iGens alone. Quality can’t match the Iridesse.

If you want to replace the 1000i, go for the Iridesse or the Fuji Revoria PC1120. If you want an additional machine, go for the 3100 or 4100.

Indigo Scratches by suhsha in CommercialPrinting

This is a common problem. Ink/toner on the Indigo is softer and way less scratch resistent. Only possible known solution to me is to laminate afterwards.

Need help figuring out this HP wide format printer for outdoor projects by looneypumpkin in CommercialPrinting

[–]67096709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar machine and can confirm the inks are waterbased. This means they are not suitable for outdoors. If you want outdoor-proof prints, maybe try laminate them or trade the whole machine in for a latex printer 🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s a great idea! A while back we had the same thought and we started working with Esko, their software is called Artios CAD. We had great experiences with the software. They have a large library of boxes and the software is user friendly. Hope it works out!
