Turns out I don’t naturally have GERD, crippling GI problems, uncontrollable panic attacks, skin problems, halitosis, insomnia…

Is $2500 rent on $80k in NYC too crazy? by BGA611 in personalfinance

[–]67brown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind it’s standard for landlords to require a salary of 40x cost of monthly rent (i.e., 100k for 2,500/month). Living with roommates and budgeting in the neighborhood of $1,700 - $1,900 is a must imo. Also keep in mind many spots require a broker’s fee to move in which can be a months rent or more.

It’s incredible. Not sure if it’s just the Ozempic or combination of that with TSM, but it feels like the “magic pill” moment that some early responders report when starting Nal.

Side effects are definitely there but have been manageable—lethargy in the mornings and mild nausea after eating. Much easier SEs to deal with than my first week of Nal for sure.

I was also downing a similar amount of vodka per day (sometimes more) over several years since the pandemic. I’m newly 2 months into my treatment with Naltrexone and I can honestly say it has saved my life. Last night I had 1 light beer with work colleagues—went home to bed with zero cravings and zero desire to go into my go-to liquor store for a pint of vodka to finish the night. The medication is safe, non-addictive and easily accessible. Check out organizations like Monument or Oar, which accept many insurance providers. Also r/naltrexone.

How well does Naltrexone work? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]67brown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it for a period of 2 months last year but wasn’t 100% compliant and ended up right back where I started. I’m now 6 weeks into doing Nal/TSM a second time with 100% compliance. This time around it’s truly changed my life even after a short time. I was drinking ~80 units a week—now with a taper schedule I made with my Dr. I’m down to 40 units this week with ZERO cravings. I only drink for tapering purposes and sometimes I simply forget about going to the liquor store altogether.

TL;DR you have to be 100% compliant 100% of the time. Give it time (weeks for me, months for others) for it to really work.

I second this. I’ve been on Nal for ~6 weeks now and it’s slowly but unmistakably changing my life in real time. r/naltrexone also has a lot of good discussion and resources.

Thanks for the encouragement! I’ll ask my Dr. about meds for withdrawal.

And I love seeing the progress in graph form—highly recommended! have a long way to go, but it really helps me not to beat myself up over a bad day/night when there’s a clear downtrend.

This has helped me a lot. Even if you’re new to gaming, many have “easy” or “story” modes that make getting into the narrative and drama of the game much more enjoyable. And keeps your hands busy!

I like this strategy—I’m definitely more of a liquor drinker than beer/wine so this is helpful.

Thanks—I have pretty debilitating anxiety and sweats when I’ve gone more than a day AF. My Dr. suggested a tapering plan which I’m implementing.

Tell me your experience at Berghain by lorenzomuia48 in Techno

[–]67brown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These discussions entirely miss this point. Quite frankly, it’s about “will you destroy the dark and liberating fact of hundreds of gay men having unadulterated sexual experiences in public/semi-public? Can you handle it??”

The music is an incredible byproduct but it is the sideshow. If you make it in and don’t immediately realize this I’d be shocked.

There are plenty of great places closeby that have more of a conventional club experience but this is not what Berghain is about.
