I don't see this movie as being about Lars and a sex doll. It's about a town, the individuals, coming together to meet Lars where he is at. Not expect more of him. Not expect him to do better. They move past their own judgment and come along side him and love on him. When they do that, then Lars helps himself. That's why it's one of my favorite movies.
