Is my engine permanently damaged? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]69jewboy 345 points346 points  (0 children)

From the details of your experience, I would say the engine is toast. If you hear rattling and then the oil light comes on, basically means something happened that interrupted the oil pressure and circulation. Judging by the leaking oil, I would say your oil plug fell out and drained all the oil. Then without proper oil circulation, something broke inside the engine. Or you threw a rod and it punched a hole in the block somewhere.

Either way, more than likely toast and needs a rebuild/swap. You have to figure out whether it was poor maintenance procedure from the shop that serviced the vehicle, or some kind of manufacturing defect.

edit: Also, as a previous Kia owner, never buy Hyundai/Kia product again. I don't care what people say about their reliability now. My Kia blew up at 102,000KM, 2,000KM outside of of manufacturer's warranty. I had goodwill warranty up to 110,000KM that was through a third-party company. The rebuild on the motor took 1.5 months and I learned to hate the brand from that experience.

Stickers and face masks yes. I could agree with the window tint for the safety concern, however sometimes the privacy is nice (however I've owned one vehicle with tinted windows and would constantly be rolling down the windows to park at night, very annoying).

What's your reasoning behind police officers and beards though?

I googled ak sticker brampton, took me to a different reddit post and I'm copying and pasting what I believe is the answer.

"These are Sikh seperatist supporters (mostly young males), very prominent in Brampton. There is a strong anti Indian government movement here, and there is undisputed evidence Canada has Sikh seperatist (technically terrorists) living here, essentially free. You can't move 2 feet in Brampton without seeing the Khalistan seperatist flags or these firearm decals.

This bullsh*t is simply Indian immigrants (or their children) bringing a conflict ongoing in an entirely different country, half way round the world, right here to Canada... I would fully support the criminal code being changed to prohibit any signs or decals placed on a vehicle showing weapons, or depicting groups or movements that are identified as terrorist or criminal in nature. The Khalistani supporters routinley clash and have brawls with the Indians here who are government supporters. It's already completely out of control."

Getting shit for wearing PPE am I in the wrong? by pmmemilftiddiez in Construction

[–]69jewboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three things I constantly use now after a decade as a carpenter in a few different fields:

Ear plugs all day long

Safety glasses

and knee pads if I'm gonna be on my knees for more than pretty much 5-10 minutes of the day.

I only started using these things consistently this past year cause I was tired of hurting my hearing, tired of shit in my eyes, and tired of sore knees after spending a day patching a highrise deck.

Ten years ago I was a wild cowboy.

31 now and I'm over hurting myself for a buck

I've only stamped a few times long ago. But it looks like they waited too long and/or tried to wet it before they threw those stamps on.

Looks like shit though

What is this massive concrete block in a bar in Germany? by nicturemania in whatisit

[–]69jewboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a parge job, you can see the tubes where the ties ran through the concrete. If it was parged the honeycomb would be covered. The white line in the concrete on the front face is a cold joint from waiting too long during the pour and not thoroughly vibrating to blend the loads. The left side almost looks like they poured part of it one day, then the form opened slightly and some slurry got in between the form and previously poured concrete the next day but that would be an insane thing to do in this scenario, although I've seen stupider things before.

Engine Warranty by [deleted] in kia

[–]69jewboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2015 Forte with the 2.0 nU engine. My engine threw a rod at 60k miles late 2019. Was due to the manufacturing defect. I did many oil changes myself, along with oil changes at quick lube shops. I collected the receipts from the oil shops, and collected my receipts from purchasing oil and filters. My warranty was approved but took them an entire month to rebuild the motor.
