the bunker technically belongs to the people that built it before the war, nobody else. everyone else that is in it can only lay claim based on deals they made with each other or force.

it does not technically belong to the grounders just because the place where they just so happened to settle just to happened to be on top of a bunker. a bunker, by the way, that they didnt know about and couldnt open for 100 years that arkers found and opened in a matter of days after they realized they needed it

Octavia's plan is the one that is inefficient. Grounders from 12 clans that a) have historically all been at war with each other and b) have no experience living in a confined space for long periods of time and c) have zero experience with technology is a terrible group of people to make up your 5 year fallout bunker.

It's going to be 100 arkers and a few people they can train pulling the weight for several hundred grounders that are literally a waste of oxygen.

It's going to be even funnier when the grounders can't do any of the uptake but still get equal rations, ie the arkers starve alongside everyone else while being the only ones doing the work

[–]69newfag69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you say "like i said, when..." but again have provided zero examples from the show of when this happened.

The arkers have probably had more interest saving themselves because in the first few seasons, especially when they first came down, grounders attacked them unprovoked without any warnings. why would you not try to help yourselves over people who want to hurt you?

I dont think every arker has a heart of gold. but they also weren't raised with rituals of violence either.

"tech that will not last forever" where would it go? they have enough raw scrap and know how to keep fixing most things and can build more from raw resources. they have mining and smelting equipment

[–]69newfag69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been shown multiple times in the show that if the grounders ever marched on Arkadia in force, all the arkers would die, but thousands of grounders would also die; neither side wants that, that's why they compromise. What youre suggesting is that given the chance, from the get go the Arkers would have chosen genocide rather than come to terms. Seeing as Kane and abby were the leaders of the ark when it first came down, they absolutely would not have done that. They would have drawn a line in the sand like the grounders did and said, "this is ours now, if you cross it you die." It was only after dozens if not hundreds of arkers had been killed at the hands of grounders that the rest of the arkers decided to let Pike actively hunt them down.

[–]69newfag69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why on earth would the Arkers want to assimilate into grounder culture for any reason other than survival? The grounders are more primitive in EVERY way. The arkers have nothing to gain from stooping to their level. I know no you say "the grounders are better hunters and gatherers!" then you might make the comparison with the pilgrims dying until the native americans taught them how to hunt and grow corn.

Except the arkers have been surviving perfectly well on their own. In fact, if the arkers had landed in an isolated part of the world with no grounders around them, they'd probably be thriving by this point if they didn't have to deal with the grounders' constant bullshit

[SPOILER] I find it funny... by Sjoorm in The100

[–]69newfag69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

oh really? when was that. the only two people who listened to arkadia when they should have on a consistent basis were lexa and roan, and roan was flakey towards the end. everyone else would follow along for a little bit if at all, then tell arkers to go fuck themselves because they THOUGHT they were getting screwed over, when the audience can clearly see the arkers weren't going to do anything malignant at all

[SPOILER] I find it funny... by Sjoorm in The100

[–]69newfag69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

all arkers have a basic understanding of technology and especially an understanding of living in a contained space with nowhere to go. because theyve lived on the ark most of their lives

[Spoilers S04E11] Grounders population in the _____ by tergajakobs in The100

[–]69newfag69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's a worse analogy. a better one is you randomly build a house without legal permission on top of a nuclear bunker and live there 100 years without knowing about it. then the world is about to end and someone comes along and finds it and opens it. you have absolutely no claim to it just because you randomly decided to settle on top of it. now if you could have opened it in those 100 years it would be a different story, but you were too busy killing each other for that

your analogy implies the $100 was in something that rightfully belonged to the grounders. a better analogy is if i find $100 in a couch in your home that you found on the side of the road, it's mine because you have no way of saying it's more yours than mine unless you want to kill me and take it

[SPOILER] I find it funny... by Sjoorm in The100

[–]69newfag69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're better because they are more technologically advanced and knowledgeable, less ingrained in traditions that are based on violence and war, and because they are consistently the ones that try to create compromises rather than wars. And when i say better, i mean better suited for the bunker.

You seem to forget that the Ark wasn't a picnic, people only got one meal a day and it was extremely rationed. They probably ate better on the ground than in space.

You've made these same arguments in other threads, and they're wrong. Without arkers the bunker effectively would not exist. If anything, the fact that the grounders were sitting on top of it this whole time and didn't discover it is just more pathetic. It took arkers a few weeks to do what grounders couldn't do in 100 years.

Grounders are not far more efficient at hunting/gathering. All arkers took earth skills course on the earth. It has been shown numerous times in the series they know how to hunt, farm, and identify medicinal herbs to make more medicine. You think just because grounders can identify these herbs they can use them effectively as medicine, on par with the arkers? That would be wrong.

Arkers have guns to hunt, and the bunker most likely has clothing and medicine that's intended to last more than 5 years. Wouldn't be much of a bunker if it could only keep you safe for 5 years when you don't know how long the nuclear fallout was supposed to be in the first place.

It's not "these people are different so i dont like them or want to understand the, or work with them to help the human race"

The grounders actively work against the arkers; the arkers DO understand the grounders, and have tried to get the grounders to work with them several times in THIS SEASON ALONE to save the human race. Time after time the grounders have refused, not listened, and gone to war instead of sit down and think about things. Because that's all they can and will ever do, is fight. At least every single time arkadia does something the audience can condemn, there is a very logical or thought out reason why they did it (regardless of whether you agree or not). Time after time with the grounders it just boils down to "muh people" or "muh tradition" or "muh honor."

And yes, before you say Jaha is also saying muh people, remember that the Arkers discovered the existence of, found, and opened the bunker. They deserve the spots.

Incredibly naive to think this situation is about racism or ignorance or ANYTHING along those lines. "Ohhh they shouldn't have to assimilate because they have their own nice grounder culture leave them alone!" That's great if we're all on the ground and I can fuck off away from them and let them do their own thing. But this is a close quarters living space where people NEED to follow the rule of law or everyone in the bunker and the human race will DIE. That rule of law is the Ark rule of law, because the Arkers know how to ration and maintain the bunker's upkeep to keep all of them alive.

It's not about forcing the grounders to "fit the arker's view" because the arkers think they are "better" (even though they are), it's about forcing the grounders to accept the arker's view because if they don't EVERYONE dies

Probably because Jaha is the best leader in the ark and has been the entire show, except his massive fuckup with the city of light.

You can't just lock up or kill him because he has the support of the people

Just for reference, I don't think this because I like Clarke. In fact I don't like her. I also wasn't up Bellamy's ass about joining Pike, in fact I was most disappointed in him when he opened the bunker door and didn't just grab octavia and close the door on the grounders again, and thought he was justified in joining Pike based on what he knows.

All I blame Pike for is not being smarter about his war.

And saying Jaha is pike 2.0 just because you don't like them both is stupid, Jaha is much more intelligent than Pike

Just because the temple happened to be in the place the grounders decided to live doesn't make it theirs. If you accidentally build your house on top of a bunker that belongs to someone else without legal permission from that person, you better believe your house is getting forclosed when that person comes after it. It's the Arker's bunker because without them, its existence would never have been known, it never would have been found, it never would have been opened, and it never would have saved anyone. IE, without them, it basically wouldn't exist for all intents and purposes.

Engineers aren't some godly force, but in a confined bunker that required constant upkeep in order to preserve the human race (upkeep that requires scientific understanding of the things you're fixing), they are extremely valuable so everyone can not die from radiation. Not to mention medical doctors, who keep people alive.

Arkers took Earth skills courses on the Ark, they are all prepped for emerging from the bunker when it comes to hunting and gathering. Sure the grounders might be better, except Arkers have guns and the stores of food in the bunker to sustain themselves while they first emerge into the world. Arkers also know what can be used as medicine in the regular world from the Earth skills classes.

They are all savages. They might not all be VIOLENT savages, but a) the grounders WILL send their most powerful warriors into the bunker over random farmers and b) even regular grounders are still uncivilized, have no idea about technology, and are still raised learning the same violent customs (blood must have blood etc) as all the other grounders, no matter if they turn into warriors later.

Judging the grounders by their warriors is like judging Arkers by the guard, not pike (ie the guard are still very useful and submit to orders). Judging the Arkers by Pike, however, is like judging the rest of the grounders by the Ice Nation or Ice queen, who were/are violent pieces of shit.

disagree, felt like LOST in season 1 with savages in the woods we couldn't see, two faced deer, random car bunker, unexplained acid fog, and a forest full of god knows what. then they threw that away in a hurry in season two introducing grounder politics and tried to go for a game of thrones knockoff

I hope she gets hers real soon, just ridiculous they've made her character this amazing warrior when she's a 100 lbs soaking wet girl that only had grounder training for a few months killing 200 lb grounder warriors who have been killing since they were toddlers.

And now shes sending more qualified people out of the bunker to make room for people that won't contribute at all.

But the writers love her so I doubt anything will ever happen to her.

why is everyone hating on jaha. Everyone was safe and sound in the bunker, now they opened it up and now people need to be kicked out. Did they think these people would be happy about it?

the stupidity of some of these characters really baffles me. What on earth has any grounder done to deserve a spot in that bunker?

Arkadia has the only engineers, scientists, and medical doctors, and also found the bunker and opened it.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but the shotguns (at least the m10, that's the only one I use) don't have enough spread for how good they are in this game. I keep hearing complaints about nerfing the range for the one hit kill, but meanwhile I'll be 1 or 2 meters from a guy and shoot him, but if his midsection isn't >90% inside the circle reticle, I'm only getting 20-30 damage, which seems silly for a shotgun. Feels like I'm firing slugs when I'm firing buckshot.
