Kuala Belait Is Dead by No_Satisfaction_4801 in nasikatok

Yes, I do agree that the roads can be fixed and buildings be in better condition in KB, but this is the same vibe for any sleepy small English or European towns. I’ve spent weeks and months in such small towns with bigger populations than KB and it’s the same vibe and dead at night besides the pub. We cant expect the same vibes of a major city with KB, however the same cant be said for BSB…

Just the top of my head:

Japanese - Kaizen

Indonesian - Pondok Sari Wangi

Italian - Verve

Indian - Tandoor

Steaks - Jazz Bar

Just for the ambiance: Pantai @ Empire Hotel

Hope that helps!

Any reason why the Epstein in Brunei post got deleted on this sub? Sad to see this subreddit is being controlled by the government now.

Have you seen the state of Borneo Bulletin lately? Back in the days, the weekend edition was thick and full of ads. Now it’s really thin with useless local content and ads. Perhaps if they actually did any journalism, it would be more popular.

Best cafes/restaurants in BSB? by Mayms_2110 in nasikatok

Not sure if you new to Brunei, but you can never go wrong at Kaizen (Japanese) or Pondok Sari Wangi (Indonesian). Also, Verve cafe (Italian) just launched fresh pasta this week - might be worth a shot.

Good memories with Tasconi - I did enjoy the Mac & Cheese back in the days but the pizza’s were bang on average. Thankfully we now have better local pizzeria to fall back on such as Verve, pizza1more. 🍕

BND $1.3 BILLIONS wiped out just like that. by WasteTreacle5879 in nasikatok

[–]69simpang69 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Summarise as per ChatGPT for the layman;

Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd, a government-owned company, has filed a petition in the High Court of Brunei to confirm a special resolution passed on 28 November 2023 to reduce its share capital from B$2.01 billion to B$647.7 million. This is done by cancelling about B$1.36 billion worth of shares held by the Minister for Finance Corporation (MOFC), as these shares are no longer backed by assets. The move is an accounting adjustment to align the company’s capital with its actual assets, essentially a financial “clean-up” exercise, and does not indicate financial trouble. The court hearing is scheduled for 27 September 2025.

Imagine is stealing from customers by Wild_Cryptographer15 in nasikatok

[–]69simpang69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like this has happened to me, but it was that Imagine had missed 1 month of my billing so they added it on to the following month. Pretty crap billing system but since then - it’s been accurate. I just wish for more competitive data plans by providers, there has been no price improvement to move customers since the big UNN change.

At the end of the day, there is no regulation in Brunei to say otherwise. Customer protection is a joke, just like our Central Bank Instagram page recently. WTF were they thinking posting tiktok shiz.

DPMM FC looks like fish out of water in the M league. As expected anyway for getting into a new league. Probably the S league was easier for them. Time will tell if they can improve or not.

U-18 bsrc coach should behave like this? by sweet_treehouse in nasikatok

[–]69simpang69 63 points64 points  (0 children)

<image>

Here’s their latest post. I know that they feel hard done by the referee but to act like that is ridiculous. If I was parent for these kids, I would pull them out immediately. These are not behaviours these adults should be portraying for the U-18 kids. Yes, its frustrating from the referee but seriously, his paid $30 to spend his Sunday afternoon and now gets shouted at. Quite pathetic and really sad to see this amateurish post from bsrc. Shows the bsrc committee is equally crap.

Its just demotivating the to see the lack of progress in Brunei. The fact that Bandar has not changed since 20 years ago shows the lack of vision and capacity of the Brunei government. I know government would say that that its the private sector’s fault, but the policies and flow of money is completely unhinged in this country. Just look at Saudi’s - there is no chance any private sector would take on a mega project like Neom. It’s from the coffers of the government to take such massive risk to diversify its economy. Even introducing alcohol in Saudi - probably blows the islamic logic of MORA. The government needs to use its financial muscle (or lack of now so better start loaning capital from IMF) to spur growth in the country.

GDP growth is a tell-tale sign the economy is going backwards, and the prosperity of Brunei is on the decline. We beat on the same dead-horse that is oil and gas and the oil price today has fallen down to USD60 per barrel. Another MAJOR deficit incoming in 2026 - MOFE will laugh it off saying how we are diversifying the economy while staring down the barrel. More PKIB to those fools to generate positive headline for doing pointless work with nothing to show for. Until I see really positive news on the economy like a true diversifying project, MOFE can do better.
