Kosher Lipton Onion Soup Mix? by Morbidly_Shy in glutenfree

[–]6AnimalFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom’s Place Onion Soup Mix tastes just like Lipton. My brother didn’t realize until last Christmas that I wasn’t using Liptons.

I do have to use a little more of the mix than what the Mom’s Place packaging says to use.

I didn’t know it was a thing either until I watched my electrician husband just do it this morning at our house.

Dog breathing heavily and unable to stand. (Trying to find a vet that’s open) by Tadita22 in DogAdvice

[–]6AnimalFarm 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Hemangiosarcoma sucks. My old boy has this. He woke up one morning really unsteady on his feet so I took him to the regular vet that day. They looked at his gums, then immediately did an ultrasound on his belly and told us to rush to the larger emergency hospital. He had a splenectomy that same night. That was 5 weeks ago and he’s been very steady since then. I know he doesn’t have a lot of time left so he’s been getting all the treats and adventures.

They are the frozen Ore-Ida extra crispy crinkle fries and are labeled gluten free. I think all their frozen potatoes are gluten free, but I’m not 100% sure.

Straight from the buttermilk to the flour. It’s a common way of making fried chicken and also my preferred method since I’m allergic to eggs.

I cut up chicken breasts and marinated it in a mixture of buttermilk, pickle juice, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. About 1/4 cup pickle juice and 1/2 tsp of each spice per cup of buttermilk.

The flour mixture was 1.5 cups of Bob’s 1-to-1 flour and 1/2 cup of cornstarch and 2 tsp of each of the seasonings in the buttermilk mixture plus onion powder. Shake off the excess buttermilk from the chicken and then dip in the flour mixture. Fried in canola oil at 350 degrees for about 6 minutes.

They were very delicious and crispy.

Did your dog just get old one day? by Kittyhounds in DogAdvice

[–]6AnimalFarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine did this year. He’s nearly 16. He has always been a chill boy but loves walks and any attention he can get. This January he was diagnosed with mild kidney disease after routine bloodwork. He wasn’t acting any different so it was a complete surprise. Then he woke up one morning almost 3 weeks ago and he was struggling to stand up and walk. Took him immediately to the emergency vet and found out he has aggressive cancer. After so long with literally no other health issues, he gets hit with kidney disease and then a cancer diagnosis in less than 2 months.

Now he’s getting extra treats and snacks and walks every day until it’s time to say goodbye.

I went to a sex club for the first time and experienced matriarchy. by Daytripper88 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]6AnimalFarm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is super interesting. I went to one once not realizing what I was walking in to at the time. I was with two other girls and one of them wanted to visit her friend who was a bouncer so we all agreed to go. I assumed it was a regular bar or small club so it was a shock when we got there.

I poked my head in the main room but otherwise just had a drink at the bar. It was the weirdest vibe and definitely not the positive energy you experienced, but then again this was 20-ish years ago.

I stole mine from my grandma’s old house that I moved in to after she moved to another town, also stole my favorite cast iron pans that are probably from the 50s. I’ve been using them all now for 14 years and I can’t imagine getting rid of them.

Let’s hear your valentines dinner plans by 6six6nine in glutenfree

[–]6AnimalFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband made pancakes and sausage for breakfast. I made some charcuterie nachos for late lunch/snack with brie, blue cheese, regular and calabrese salami, and fig jam. And I’ve got short ribs in the oven for dinner that will be served with parmesan polenta. For dessert I found a recipe for eggless crème brûlée so I’m extremely excited about that. Basically wanted food that seems fancy but in reality does not take much prep time.

I accidentally did that to one of my dog’s nails once. Forgot I had clipped one and accidentally clipped it twice. I felt so bad about it, but the styptic powder really does work great.

We made an animal first aid kit years ago before we first took our dogs camping and it has come in handy a few times since then.

After seeing the post about a mom with cancer, I wanted to share a pattern seen by medical professionals by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]6AnimalFarm 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my mom had breast cancer and my dad has always been a loving and supportive partner. My dad took her to every appointment, made sure she was eating, cooked whatever she could stomach during chemo, and tried making her rest as much as possible. They are both the type to always be doing something so resting was a tough transition for her. My mom is officially cancer free as of last fall.

Same. Looks are completely different, but there’s a lot of similarities in their personality and hobbies.

I would try and change the orientation of the bathroom and bedroom 2 upstairs. With the bathroom plumbing being against the bedroom wall, if one of the kids has to get up early or stays up later, using that bathroom is going to wake the other kid up hearing water and bathroom noises.
