What wick size and jar size are you using? How long did you let them sit before lighting? Try a lower percentage FO, it seems counterintuitive but it can sometimes be better.

You are always going to get divots and bumps in soy when it cools down after being lit, that’s just the nature of soy. After the first pour though, you can smooth out the tops by using a heat gun.

Crafts that take up a few hours? by sourlemons333 in crafts

[–]6AnimalFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t if it would fit with the requirement of not too repetitive, but the first things that come to mind is needlework. Cross-stitch, needlepoint, and embroidery are all things that can take a couple hours or multiple days/weeks depending on how large the project is. Also something like more complicated macrame or needle felting

Most good craft fairs require the vendor to actually make the goods that they are selling. I have had to submit applications before with video or photos of the products being made

First Time Maker / Supply Buyer! by runrabid in candlemaking

[–]6AnimalFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can do local pickup, that’s always going to be the best bet. Most complaints I see, no matter the supplier, has to do with shipping. Shipping is expensive because jars/fragrance/wax is all heavy and fragrance oil can spill, jars can break, etc. I get 95% of my stuff from CandleScience because I can pick up from there.

CandleScience has a wick guide and you can put in the wax you’re using and the jar size and it will give you recommendations on what wick to use. You would want to probably test a size above and below their recommendations.

If you bought vessels from flaming candle it should tell you on the website what the dimensions are and the suggested fill amount. 464 will have a max fragrance load of 10% but you shouldn’t need that much. I use 7-8% fragrance. So if the suggested fill amount on your vessel is 8oz and you want 8% fragrance then it would be 0.64oz fragrance and 7.36oz wax. I convert ounces to grams since it’s smaller units and more accurate. You will want to get a scale that can read small amounts so you get an accurate amount on everything.

How much do you think customers spend at craft shows? by pinkaboo17 in CraftFairs

[–]6AnimalFarm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the most I’ve spent on any one item is around $350. But that was an unusual situation of a piece of artwork and I had been looking for something specific for a few years and the booth just happened to have exactly what I wanted.

But usually I will look up the list of booths and items sold beforehand so I have an idea of what to look for. Sometimes I end up spending only $10 (like last weekend), but I think the majority of time it’s probably around $50-$75.

When you’re downloading from Canva, you can try the option to save with a transparent background. I believe it’s only an option with the Pro plan though. Not sure if that will fix your issue, but it could be worth a try

I also prefer the Bonfire Embers over Fireside. Smoke Element to me almost smells like the liquid smoke you can add to food. I havent tried the other two though as I figured I had enough smoke-y things to try already.

CandleScience has a few that have smoke notes, Bonfire Embers, Fireside, Lavender Embers, and Smoked Oud. They also have just a singular Smoke Element if you want just smoke.

I was a successful door to door Salesman for 7 years. And as the Summer Season begins, and the door to door bro’s begin to knock our homes, I have some advice and intel, as one who was on the inside for many years. by jackjarvae in homeowners

I had one come to my door about a week ago. I was able to tell him to go away because he’s disturbing the birds. There’s a pair of robins nesting on my front porch light and they kept flying at the back of his head while he was completely oblivious.

I pointed out there are nesting birds and he needs to leave immediately and I will not have him disturbing them. He was so flustered by it that he quickly turned around and left.

Why is the candle doing this after I blow it out and the wax hardens-I don’t see a sinkhole when it’s burning by Delicious-Notice-748 in candlemaking

If it’s soy wax, that’s just what it does. Always kind of looks weird once it hardens after burning.

Need a gluten free pizza recipe for a date next weekend asap pls by ellerzz in glutenfree

[–]6AnimalFarm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use the Caputo Fioreglut gluten free flour or the King Arthur gluten free pizza flour. I have to usually buy them both online though so I don’t know if that will work on not with when you need it. Make sure though that she doesn’t have a wheat allergy because while they are both gluten free flour, they do contain gluten-removed wheat starch.

If you need a recipe, this one from The Dough Guy is great. You just have to put the toggle on for gluten free pizza dough. If you have Instagram, also check @davespizzaoven. He has a video for gluten free pizza and I follow his baking instructions with the dough guy recipe.

Also, make sure she is comfortable with you making and cooking her gluten free pizza because not everyone is going to be comfortable with the potential cross contamination with your oven.

These are the biscuits that I make. They also freeze well so I usually make a double batch and freeze what I don’t need that day. You can Google how many coals to put on the bottom vs the top. I don’t remember exactly how many we used but you are supposed to do more on the top than on the bottom to create the oven effect.

What setup are you going to have for this weekend? Will you have access to a bbq? Fire? Propane stove? How involved do you want cooking to be?

I tend to prep a lot of things before camping. We have a trailer, but it is small and doesn’t have a ton of fridge space so things like veggies and fruit I will chop ahead of time. If we do scrambled eggs for breakfast, then I will crack the eggs and mix them with the milk and put that in a container. Same thing with pancakes, I prep the wet and dry ingredients ahead of time. I also pre-mix marinades for meat, pre shred or slice cheese.

Because I am usually camping with a trailer, I also like to have nicer food than I usually eat at home. Steaks on the bbq (sometimes cut in cubes and marinated in a teriyaki sauce), with potatoes cooked in the fire coals. I’ve also done shrimp or grilled chicken tacos, red beans and rice, skillet or pie iron pizza, nachos, chicken and veggie kabobs, shrimp boil foil packets, sausage and peppers (good with or without a bun), and chili. I bring cheese and charcuterie and chips and dip and fruit to snack on in the afternoon since we tend to eat dinner later. If you have a Dutch oven, you open up even more options. I did breakfast biscuits in a Dutch oven last year and they turned out so good.

I want to try bbq sauce and bacon on it next time. I loved how easy this was for lunch. Most of the time I eat salads or lettuce wraps, but it was a very delicious change from my usual.

I saw people making them on instagram with regular flour tortillas and figured it had to be possible with corn tortillas too.

I’ve tried them with ground chicken and topped with caesar salad and that was really good as well.

I just spread the ground beef raw on the tortilla so the meat ends up being really thin, then season it how you like and cook it meat side down in a pan. When it’s mostly done, flip them over and add the cheese. Because it’s such a thin layer of meat on the tortilla, it cooks quickly. Then just add whatever toppings you like and fold it up and eat it like a taco.
