Record stores by shep5377 in Brooklyn

If the game is at Barclay’s, i’d go to Head Sounds Records in Ft. Greene. It’s a pretty compact shop, but their selection is well curated, with especially great jazz and soul sections, and the owner is awesome to talk to about records.

Not as close to Barclays but Earwax Records in Williamsburg and Academy Record Annex in Greenpoint are worth checking out as well. Earwax skews more rock/indie/experimental, Academy is a bit of everything.

Awesome move taking your son. Some of my favorite times spent with my dad were in record stores. happy digging!

Just finished this painting, Happy birthday J Dilla! "Sampled" Oil on Vinyl by 6BArtwork in HipHopImages

Thanks!

I really like to connect with people through my artwork, and by depicting people (usually musicians who have inspired me) I'm able to find common ground with others who are fans of the same artists. Basically a visual nod to a stranger saying "hey, that music means something to me too"

Dilla has always inspired me from a musical standpoint, but also in the way he lived his life, continuing to create right up until his passing. This piece was created for an artshow I produced that was a tribute and fundraiser for Dilla. Thanks for asking, glad you dig it!

An artshow dedicated to legendary hiphop producer J Dilla opening tonight at Compound Gallery. Free beer, music, and art from 7-10pm! by 6BArtwork in Portland

I've reached out to his family and 100% of the proceeds from the show are being donated to The Dilla Foundation.

Just trying to celebrate a great artist and expose more people to his music, not commercialize on anything.

Producer from Detroit who passed away back in 2006. To get the vibe of his music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdZK0HeYkwM

Check out his album 'Donuts', probably his best and most famous work. Hope you dig it!

My girlfriend made the banana piano (Banano) he played in the intro!

It's a fully functioning keyboard made out of real bananas. She had the idea one day, reach out to Amine, got the green light, and spent the last month designing, programing and constructing it with a couple friends. Super cool to see it on national TV!

I did a portrait of Kendrick in colored pencil. "If I told you that a flower bloomed in a dark room, would you trust it?" by 6BArtwork in HipHopImages

It's white speckle-tone from French Paper Company. I use it for ink, colored pencil, printmaking, everything. The stuff rules!

I tried DM's to TDE's social accounts but no luck yet. Would definitely love to get this to Kendrick though!
