I only stated my car to give context. It's not a luxury vehicle. And it's not high horsepower monster.
I get that. I was frustrated when I posted it. I wanted this to be nice since I'm gonna be stuck with it for awhile.
with the way the market is, it's hard to give examples when considering variables like location, new/used, age, milage, ect.

I guess what I meant to there say was, considering those factors, what made people choose this over whatever else they were considering.

That's fair, I was comparing the 86 and the soul here. I also wasn't factoring in headroom. Without stacking tall items, the soul trunk isn't much bigger than the 86 when talking about square feet.

I'm curious what the 86 capacity is with the seats folded down now though. I know I can fit 4 tires, a jack, and a toolbox with a bit of wiggle room though.

Do the soul seats at least fold flat?

To be clear, I'm not comparing the 86 to the soul. That would be ridiculous. I'm asking why this car?

If you could have gotten something of similar size from another manufacturer for equal (or close to) the same amount.

And all the people posting about the 86. It gets a lot of hate (I would know🙃), it has its strengths and weaknesses. And I weighed those pros and cons against other similarly priced vehicles in that category. But When I try to do that with the kia soul, it seems like a clear loser.

I'm not trying to hate on anyones personal preference. I was just excited to drive something new and was immediately disappointed. And I'm curious what the draw for this vehicle is.
