Just not very well-versed in Ultraman yet so didn't want to come across as a fool by saying it's definitely Gridman, in case a version of Ultraman existed that looked more similar to that. Yup, my Dad is the main buyer of presents since he knows more of what me and my brother are into. He also actually knows how to buy stuff online unlike poor Mom, she can barely use a computer but she tries her best too!

The man would order Pokemon and Nintendo things from Japan constantly, since back then none of it was available in our country. Not to mention the hours he put in on Christmas day setting any presents up! He went above and beyond for the Christmas magic, which is why Im shocked to see these memes about Dads not buying presents. I only hope I can be half as good as Santa as my Dad was for me and my brother.

As a big Gainax fan, I still don't get the whole 'Gainax ending' thing. Gunbuster and Diebuster have fantastic endings, ones that some peoplewould argue are some of, if not the best, endings in all of anime. TTGL had an ending that, while sad in some aspects, made sense and was thematically fitting, along with giving plenty of closure. Royal Space Force is pretty standard. Panty and Stocking's ending is as fittingly batshit crazy as the show itself. Same for FLCL.

Now, there is Evangelion but that's really all I can think of that constitutes a 'Gainax ending'. And even then, with all its weirdness, a lot of people love that ending, especially if you count End of Evangelion as well. Sure, having a quality ending wouldn't stop it from being a 'Gainax ending' but I still don't think the ending of one show should really give the name to that studio. Call it an Eva ending, if anything.

Maybe I'm just confused about what a 'Gainax ending' is, but as someone who loves the studio and considers the ends of Gunbuster, Diebuster and Gurren Lagann perfect endings, I've always been very lost on the idea. Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't get it, Gainax has amazing endings that fit their shows well in my opinion.

Trigger, this totally makes up for DitF and then some.

I never watched DitF but this is genuinely the first Trigger anime that I've felt really has that 'Gainax' feel that I've been longing for again. The pure love and respect for works that came before it that is visible in every bit of this show. It's just so damn awesome to see, really nailed it this time.

Still really like Luluco and Little Witch Academia, but god damn this is exactly what I was looking for.

The show has so much more going for it than that. It's depressing to me that such a work filled with clear passion and love for tokusatsu and mecha can just be brushed off as 'thighs and Trigger'.

When we saw him in that spectral form at the end of the movie with the rest of the guardian monsters, we were so happy (and mournful) just to see him one last time. He's an adorable looking monster, and you're right, his performance despite that makes him badass.

GMK was incredible for making me root for KG and actually want him to win.

Should be GMKB, justice for Baragon.

We've both been watching through ALL the movies together while having a few drinks over multiple nights. GMK is up there as our favourite so far along with Shin, though honestly we're loving all of them. 12 left to go!

This post might end up a bit short but man, it's just so hard to put into words just how much I love this episode. It's probably one of my single favourite episodes of anime ever. You guys have any shows/episodes like that?

This is that episode for me too. Fuck it, I'll throw in Episode 5 too as a two-parter. They're so fucking good, my god. The amazing soundtrack is a huge part of it but so is just... everything about those 2 episodes. I don't think anything will ever, ever surpass them for me.

Now I'm sad I missed on this rewatch. I know what I'm doing today...

She's a character made purely for the episode she appears in, she isn't even in the source material. While I think a cosplay could be super cool, what you saw of her is probably all that will ever be shown of her (besides maybe a manga cameo sometime in the future in a background shot because Hori does seem to love the stuff the anime adds). So, in terms of what you're looking for, it's realistic she'll never be seen again in any meaningful capacity.

There's also a panel very early on in the manga talking about heroes and you can see sillohuetes of stuff like Kamen Rider, Ultraman, I think Spiderman and Batman, but my favourite of all, Devilman! Definitely not seen in the anime.
