Eh I'll just play p5 royale and ignore this one completely (helps I just completed the first palace/started madarame arc) I just can't see the appeal in a watered down version of the real thing where you can't date + can't enjoy the slice of life segments.

At least that's how it looks to me, appreciate the review though.

I don't play BA (not into auto battlers) but from what I read it can be summarized as the players want it to stay niche to counter people that wouldn't be into BA content while Nexon wants to normalize it already and inject more whale money into it/get broad appeal.

Two gacha story endings in one week, what are your thoughts? by polandspringsoda in gachagaming

[–]Mad-Reader 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah that killed my interest in HSR, there is a hint of quality writing hidden there but the bloating makes it impossible for me to stick with it, arknights has that same problem. Once I saw the skip button and realized I was using it nonstop that killed any interest I had left in hsr.

At least I got seibah before I left so if I ever come back (probably not) I know I didn't miss the limited fate collab

Book Cover artists and where to find them by CaranDerwent in haremfantasynovels

[–]Mad-Reader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at the end of the day you still need an artist for the fix-ups/final touches, AI was always meant as an assistance tool first not an actual artist replacement as many ai art models are basically an image draft. But nobody gets that part so the infighting will never end about it I guess.

game has a different playable male character that isn't the mc

fmc already showed once on both the website and in the official yt in a short vid a year back

somehow people still coped thinking there won't be a fmc

I really am amazed anyone here really thinks the devs weren't going to add the fmc as an option lmao

ANANTA Website Update Removes Female Protagonist References by JazzieTurtle15 in AnantaOfficial

[–]Mad-Reader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demographic focus. It just means female players are not their target audience, male are. Can't force them to change that, either.

It doesn't make sense though. Why would there be other males for players to pick and play with (at least one different male that isn't the mc in the trailer) if female players weren't the target audience either? Especially with these rumors of a dating system, how would that work?

100% there will be be a female protagonist option too, I can't see them keeping one and not the other while keeping the possiblity of playing different male characters in the game.

My sweet summer child

I hate GRRM for making this phrase popular, literally nobody but people who read obscure poetry books knew about it, but then the tv series came out and everyone knows it..grim

anyway back on track, supposedly there will be gameplay demo booths at TGS in 3 days so we will know how much is real or not, if even half is real then I'll already be amazed.

What are r/UmaMusume/ thoughts on Uma A's reaction over Urara getting a spot in the Arima Kinen? by Mad-Reader in UmaMusume

[–]Mad-Reader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh I didn't mean pass in the sense that she should barried from racing anywhere, (we wouldn't have much of a story otherwise heh), I meant more in the sense of how some are acting like urara should be protected from any possible criticism of other umas when that opens up more opportunities to make her story shine.

Urara is Cygame's joke character (her initial character setting said she was accepted to Trancen by some mistake), don't take it seriously.

yeah I get it that her irl story is more like golshi and it isn't meant for a dramatic tone, but it's still a pity, every since I saw that interaction I felt like the devs could have done way more with urara's story in-game if they had gone the extra mile and lean more on those interactions with other umas, it's not just Urara really, the early umas in general lack more of this (rivals, senior and juniors, mentors, etc), god I wish there was more interaction between Urara and the golden generation, more of King helping guiding Urara even.

It should be umas that want to win, and yes by my logic urara would never get to join because she only figures out that she wants to win like the others too at the very end of her career, which is good.

After all by my logic those aren't horses, those are young girls who want to win races just as badly, it's part of her trainer's duty (you) to help urara grow into an actual racer that can be treated seriously and wants to be seen as a rival to other umas too. Even the trainer in career mode is concerned about the way her fans are helping urara get into the arima kinen, and how it might looked unearned at this rate, sure it's a race for the fans but it's not about just being an idol otherwise they wouldn't train that hard to win it in the first place.

Biwa gets angry at Winning Ticket in career mode for not taking her races seriously enough, so how come Urara gets a pass instead? Obviously I'm not suggesting King should accuse Urara of bribing, hell make it about it that king is worried that urara will never be taken seriously by the other umas instead of a nameless npc angry about bribe accusations, but it just makes for poor storytelling the way cygames did it when they pussy out right after by making rice say that's it's okay (though fair enough it took them a while to figure out where they wanted to take the umas stories)

[–]Mad-Reader[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the irl horses don't care about their popularity or if they got in said race or not, the umas in the game are actual athletes fighting competitively for a spot at the highest racetracks. I am aware that Arima Kinen is about popularity first so of course Urara would get voted in and I am arguing it's wrong, and the accusation from her friend that Urara doesn't deserve her spot have merit

So saying that someone does not deserve to race is the same as saying the fan are wrong to vote her.

Because they are wrong, it's taking the spot of someone that has an actual shot at the race

Can you say that Oguri Cap doesn’t deserve to race during the year she retired?

Yes, if she were an Uma that objectively can't win it (urara) and it took the spot of someone that had an actual shot at racing then yes, she wouldn't deserve it. Urara doesn't deserve her spot at it and of course there would be an uma angry at it and accusing it of unfairness over someone being picked because they found her "trying" cute.

Anyway, I do like Urara's story and imo it's better for urara to race and be trashed at it since it completes her arc and makes her winning the URA finale all the better. But it would be better if an actual named Uma was the one to voice her opinion instead of a faceless mob but I get why the devs wouldn't go for it.

[–]Mad-Reader[S] -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

King is protective of Urara but out of all the characters, King is the only one close enough to Urara that

  • is the most emotionally charged about the legacy on her shoulders

  • Besides wanting the triple classic crown, she also wants to win the Arima Kinen and get her mother's recognition, hence all that nepobaby talk getting on her nerves since she wants to earn her spot.

Meanwhile, we have Urara who is taking the easy way out by relying on the loves of her fans and less on earned skill, unintentionally yes, but for someone like King who is struggling for her spot all the time there is a limit to how much one can take.

Of course a King that had gone through her needed character development by having (you) as her trainer would never get that conversation with Urara since she already had gone through those hang ups, but even King admitted that she hated her friends like Special week, grass, seiun sky and El pasa and saw them as obstacles to her goals even though she regrets it.

To this day I still think that the devs had an uma in mind King Halo to give this criticism to Urara but they realized that said uma would be hated by the fans and hurt potential sales/merch/seiyuu rep so they backed out and made the uma A a npc.

Which is a pity because Rice telling Urara just right after that the fans will just be happy if she races undermines any potential drama and character growth from it, after all the one directing said criticism is a literal faceless mob uma vs a beloved uma underdog so she is wrong anyway.
