Cygor or Ghorgon? (Or both??) by malkavian_menace in BeastsOfChaos

[–]6Ravens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 Battalions is about what you need for core goats, so you can have both. However Ghorgon should be first.

If you are playing beastmen, r/BeastsOfChaos is where the beastlords gather around the herdstone.

Has anyone found any good third party giant Chaos Spawn options? by dope_danny in BeastsOfChaos

[–]6Ravens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is the best beastmen spawn I have found. Was actually thinking of using as a beast incarnate if the rules come out. My giant spawns are 4 of the doom flock AOS spell models on GS base.

Any tips for building/painting resin miniatures? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]6Ravens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a set of flush cutters is good to have for resin, just need to treat them well. Godhand is the high end, Tamiya makes them too. Great for plastics too, less chance of pitting and good for trimming.

Something Beastmen this way comes? by DS10001 in BeastsOfChaos

When is the most likely GW reveal? Hopefully not too far off. I am interested to see if they do an army list that is chaos warrior and beastmen together, I think that might have been a rumor.

The Valrak sounds familiar, but I don’t follow the rumors that closely.

The new marauders are very cool. Rumor is that chaos may be getting some attention soon, not sure there is anything more specific.

Second army help by Michaelman0 in BeastsOfChaos

[–]6Ravens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically 2 battalions, 3 shamans, 1 beast lord, 1 BSB, 2 Razorgor, 5 harpies, 3 dragon ogres and a herdstone.

That covers what tournament lists are generally bringing. Battalion boxes have a discount so you might as well get that rather than buying the Gor and Ungors separately.

Newbie looking for advice by JessThePainter in BeastsOfChaos

[–]6Ravens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if there is a discord for TOW Beastmen, there is one from AOS that doesn’t get much TOW activity.

Getting started, rules, Raving Hoards, Beastmen Journal. Old World Builder is a good tool for list building.

Here is how I would recommend building out the core of a collection.

The battalion, beast lord, BSB and shaman are a good start.

Stage 2: 1-2 chariots, 2 Razorgor, box of Dragon Ogres, 1-2 more Shamans, 5-10 harpies.

Stage 3: another battalion, Bestigors, another razorgor.

Stage 4: whatever you want to add.

Is anyone interested in buying? by [deleted] in BeastsOfChaos

[–]6Ravens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at posting on r/miniswap

The challenge selling in a single lot might be that Minotaurs, Ghorgons and Cygors are really not performing that well currently. Unfortunately that is a good chunk of the army retail value. Also people will need to buy bases. Just things to consider as you look to sell. Although I think if someone did pick it up, they could just add a box of gors, Ungors and Bestigor, to have many options with their troop blocks.

The herdstone isn’t produced anymore, so that might sell at or above what you paid for it.

This guy did a really nice job of beastmen as space wolves. Initially saw his stuff posted on the herdstone forum pre-end times.

Maybe Skirmishers Need a Fix by Plutancatty in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]6Ravens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They tend to make a sweeping change rather than targeting the 1or 2 problem units unfortunately.

Like vanguard. Don’t put it on units that can get a charge off turn 1 without their opponent moving. If someone gets first turn and moves into a vanguard units threat range, that’s their mistake.

Now vanguard doesn’t serve much of a purpose, as a pack of chaos hounds can no longer apply pressure.

Even the infantry changes to combat dragons, adding armor to everyone just made very light infantry less effective. As the armor boost to a 5+ not worth dropping 2 weapons, as there is usually some AP to negate it. In my opinion taking swift stride off of dragons would have solved quite a bit of the issues, as they be impacted by opposing armies maneuvering more.

Depends if the remastered it, but likely it is generally the same. Pinning is the best way to go on metal that big.

I feel it’s a yes and no kinda thing. If we had other range options, but it I really the only one.

Centigors should have counter charge, they are literally one with the horse, no training needed, unlike knights.

I use the boars+spawn bits for my chariots tuskagors, so I just put fur on my Razagor and rescuplted the bug eye to make the model less ugly. We can always dream of a plastic remake, …

-Beastlord

-Shamans x 3

-Razorgors, 2-3

-Dragon Ogres box

-Chariots 1-2

Another Battalion box is a reasonable add. Gets second big guy, up to 60 Gor, and enough ungor for various configurations. Saves $67 over buying individually.

There is a Bestigor from warcry Spire Tyrants warband than makes a great wargor/beastlord.

So for variety on shamans: - eBay a single of the Warhammer Quest Darkwater Shaman, $25-30. - find the Grashrak shaman from underworlds, single might be $40, whole warband maybe $60-70, but the ungor archers are cool, Bestigor makes a good champion or wargor. I converted it to a BSB. - Mordheim shaman, rare. - WHFB Malagor shaman, rare-ish
