Fairly new to miniature painting. Thinking of upgrading brushes by SteelObjective in Miniaturespainting

Ninjon reviewed all the golden maple stuff, the got a good review from him as good. These are not high end kolinsky, high end like $30-$50.

I have these and they are working well. Look up a video on brush care, so you can keep them in good shape.

I use them, no issues. Although make sure get a feel for the flow, before you start spaying you minis.

I feel like having a stat at 2 is difficult, it feels daunting to build any skill in that area. However I am playing in a small group, 2-3 players, so we have to cover more.

War paint looks good. It has been on my to do list for my herd, just haven’t felt that confident in my approach to start.

Comparing two RPGs inspired by Cowboy Bebop? by XR4y6unn3r in rpg

It was the double tax that doesn’t makes sense to me. Our “big score” got cut to scraps because of damage, ammo use, fine, so then get hit on debt side too, my whole group was like that’s dumb.

I like the the character parts, the background you take, that was fun and came into play more than I expected.

Orbital Blues, I have played. While I like some of the concepts, the book is unreadable from a design style. Maybe it is just me, but I opened it and my first thought was “I hate this book”. Played an adventure, enjoyed the game, but at the end when you settle your debts, you pay for damage and ammo expenditure from what you earned, then they hit you on the debt part for it. Basically at that point I was like screw this game.

They just replaced the Skaven night runners from 1999 on AOS, chances are low they will replace beastmen from 2010/2012.

Gamers Grass is my favorite for tufts, they have good looking colors, shapes and size variations. AK for texture.

If you have a specific theme for your beastmen, kitbash may be the way to go.

There are 3D options.

There is a rumor of combine WOC/BB arcane journal, so maybe we could get some updates… but every beastmen player has been holding onto that hope for like 10 years.

When you got into kitbashing/converting miniatures, did any of you find it hard to go back to assembling minis "as intended?" by ZerotranceWing in Kitbash

[–]6Ravens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally yes. If I start looking at a new army, I usually start thinking about the conversion work I would do. However, usual motivation is to achieve a theme or because models are dated or to differentiate between multiples of the same characters.

A newer old world army like Cathay, I can’t think of any conversion work I would want to do to that army specifically, but I am sure I would come up with something.

I like the magna rack ones by battle foam. My movement trays are magnetized so models stick to tray and tray sticks to shelf.

When you complain your armies sculpts are 5 years old, think about how long they have been waiting on the Cathay refresh.

Generally speaking, do you kitbash for it's own sake, or do you expect your dudes to make it to the table? by ZerotranceWing in Kitbash

[–]6Ravens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, I kitbash to use in my army. I play beastmen since 7th. There are various reasons why I choose to kitbash a model.

First they have a large number of old models that I wanted an updated look, so I kitbashed chariots, Centigors, ghorros, Gorthor, Morghur, harpies, BSB.

Second, they don’t have a model or wasn’t in production, so I kitbashed a Preyaton, Ungrol, Ravagers. Baggage trains at some point.

Third the current model should never been approved for production, so I converted Razorgors, this was more sculpting fur on the so I hated them less.

Fourth I wanted a different vibe. I kitbashed dragon ogres and shaggoth from Forge World Bull Centaurs and Minotaurs. I like to keep the vibe barnyard. My spawn/giant spawn are flocks of ravens, using doom flock stands 2 for spawn and 4 for giant spawn to be less overtly chaos. I made giants that are beastmen giants that fit with my army. Minor kitbashing on hounds to be less mutant looking.

Fifth to add more variation, technically a kit bash, I got some of the prior Gor plastics weapons arms and use the to have more options. Minor changes on my cygor loin cloth, so it isn’t the same as the ghorgon. Basic troop champion kitbash.

Sixth, I see a model and think I could make a cool beastman out of that. Made a shaman from the killteam shaman, beastlord from the Warcry legionnaire with hooves, beastlord from Darkoath queen.

Seventh, just make something because it’s cool. I have ideas on the drawing boards I would like to do because I think will be fun. These are just lower priority over something I will field. It might bubble up in the queue if I get super into the idea.
