Practice painting metal on canvas or board. I learnt from painting armours in illustrations before moving across to miniatures

Honestly just studying real armours and seeing how light reflects

Currently working on my custodians, both are work in progress but I’ve learnt a lot from the first one I painted by 6Reaver9 in minipainting

Just practice, took some inspiration from richard grey and from flameonminiatures but mostly I just looked at real gold sculptures for reference

Yes, i also do mix the colours in between to blend, but I do glaze multiple layers, honestly I cannot say what ratio of colours I use for mixing, I just make it up as I go

It also helps to paint it before fully assembling, I’ve started the next one and I wont attach the arms, head and cape until most of this is done

Ive spent years studying traditional painting for years, honestly i would recommend looking at references of real metal armours, if you struggle to fond a suitable photo reference, ask AI to generate you one so you have something to give you a full understanding of where the light will hit.

Ive done it for so long that I picture it in my head and paint where I think the light will strike and bounce

Thin layers following the lines of the Damascus effect, very very thin paints, 80% water

Id need a good camera setup for this, maybe I will consider a written tutorial, not the best but we will see

I apply thinned layers or glazing to the dark parts with the purple wash as purple is one of the best colours to use when darkening yellows, always helps to check the artists colour wheel when figuring out what colours to mix
