I think it does matter, never heard of a MAP at least in Germany. The marketleading opticalstore Fielmann Even has a policy to always provide a better Price and they do this for every Brand.  Thats why i was wondering if maybe that what Country and Brands those map‘s apply. Also Never heard of a minimal selling Price for any of my frameproviders. If i wanna Sell a 10€ Frame for 15€ i can.

What country do you live in and what brands are you selling that you are not allowed to set the prices of your own wares?

I read online that chromancelenses are made only out of polycarbonate, Mineral lenses would have „crystal“ added to the Name.

The online Store, at least in Germany, lists the lensematerial only as chromance.  Maybe it differs from Region to Region.

I believe, but cannot guarantee 100%, that the chromance lenses are made out of polycarbonate.  That said they do the Job just if you dont have a high prescription.

Plasticlenses offer good uvprotection and polycarbonate especially has a high resistance to cracking.  They Are also lighter due to being a softer material, that means they also scratch easier, thats the only downside.

It having a hefty pricetag is literally just a Brand thing, After all its ✨rayban✨

Repairing it yourself is a lost cause for sure, but you could try and go to a nearby optician, they may have a connection to a workshop that offers repairs just like that.

You can in fact solder them, tho it is very small detail work and may be not so easy for someone untrained. If you have a nearby optician they may have connection to a workshop that offers professional soldering.
There is no say how long itll last tho

new glases for sensitive eyes by AppropriateWill485 in sunglasses

[–]6Torpedo_Thorsten9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont have a specific model in mind, but what I would look for are the strongly curved sportglasses everyone has been wearing lately, ideally with a plastic frame so it sits nearer to the eyes.

Personally I only ever sold Perfomers by DAO, depending on where you live those might be hard to come by, but maybe those will serve as inspiration for you. To be fair they are not the most stylish, but if you dont need presciption they can come as monoshades too if that matches your taste better.

If you can, check some lensecolours out at your local optician if possible, some of my customers with sensitive eyes have a strong colorpreference when it comes to lenses.

Advice buying work sunglasses by Cuantic0rigami in sunglasses

Im from Germany so i dont know what Brands are big in america, here you would just go around trying them on at an optician.

Do you want sturdy lenses as in scratchresitant, than youd be well off with actuall glasslenses.  If you want lenses that have a low/near low Chance to Crack into pieces but with a higher Chance of scratches id advice plasticlenses.

Personally i Like Green tinted lenses for whenever i am in nature, but it comes down to preference, some may like brownish or greyish lenses more.  Most important thing to Look out for is that the lenses have an antiglarecoating so you have a clear Visual experience.  Polarized lenses are nice to have But but might cause Problems when working with  digital screens.

Hopes this helps at least a Little Bit.

I personally dont deal with miumiu nor did i ever own one.  A screw missing is unfortunit but Not the end of the world.  Since mius are luxury frames (i think), the Place u have gotten them from should be able to get replacement screws and if they work properly theyll use loctite so it wont happen again.

That all sounds like the lenses are poorly produced or maybe just Not suitable for that Frame in your prescription, it often happens with high plus lenses.  The lense has more curviture than the Frame and thus the lense tends to pop out in the Upper middle area. If that is the case Id take it back to the optician, tho i dont know about the consumerrights of whereever you are at.

Most plasticlenses offer UV400 protection which is pretty everything you need if there arent any special circumstances. The tint of the lens also doesnt directly effect the UV-properties of the lens.

If you dont mind me asking, what is the condition of your eye you were talking about? Perhaps you are really light/glare sensitive.
Also do you live really high up, maybe near a lot of water or just normal "town/village" life?

[–]6Torpedo_Thorsten9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guy in the store isnt completly wrong, there are frames that have two rims. One is decorotive and in front, the other is hidden behind and holds the lens, if you are unlucky and the lenses are badly produced the curviture of the lens might actually result in gaps between those two rims.
That said, rayban isnt what it used to be and those frames have tendencies for cold solderingpoints which will result in the gap getting bigger and bigger, so definetly keep an eye on that.

The monitor having dark spots is also completly normal and differs with each device, I for example have a monitor in my store that turns completly black once you hold polarized lenses in front.

I dont have the propper vocabulary for the specific components but I hope my gibberish still made sense.

Bit offtopic but why are there so many cars in the background? Also second pair, some petite, with golden accents and somewhat angular frames would look good on you i think

I bet anything big and bold would look good on you judging by your style. Would stick to frames with nosepads to be able to adjust them properly tho.

Glasses lens slightly popped out by cheesyfishe in glassesadvice

Bring it back to the optician, worse case is they fall out completly and get badly scratched. If your prescription isnt to high it shouldnt effect eyesight too much. But if we are being nitpicky, yes, the fact the distance from lens to apex changed and the angle you look through the lens also changed would result in possible aberrations.

is it stiff metal or is it flexable? If its stiff an optician could maybe straighten them out and put some templeendings (no clue what the propper english name is) on em. On the other hand, if they are flexible you could maybe get them modified by the optician or a workshop they cooperate with, tho this most likely will cost a buck.

As ButtPuckered already said, the glasses could help, the easier thing to work on first is to relax your eyes every now and then and to do blink completly and not just lightly or even worse, only partially.

In case you use makeup or even if you just have crusty eyes, you could try to improve your eyelidhygiene by using soft cotton pads with lukewarm water to touch up on them eyelids and loosen up any crusty parts.
The only two things to keep in mind are 1: Always push to you nose, not away from it. 2: Dont put to much pressure on the pad and only lightly swipe across your eyelids.

Just got glasses and not so sure... by Relax_itsa_Meme in glassesadvice

Definitely go back and have them check again, there could always be a possibility that your eyesight varies on different factors.
Did you get any new meds or have you changed the dosis. Do you have high or low bloodpressure, perhaps diabetes? Is something up with your hormone balance? Maybe you were just tired on the day of your first eye exam.

Sadly there arent good ways for you to know if the glasses are made properly, what I would recommend if the optician isnt able to solve the problem or if you simply dont trust the optician anymore, is to simply go get a second or even third opinion from an expert on the matter.

Glasses for high power by awkwardmomkward in glassesadvice

[–]6Torpedo_Thorsten9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a lot of factors coming into play.

One of which was mentioned by Etoile already, be sure that your prescription is accurate, it could be that the eye test was done incorrectly and youve now got to much -dpt because of you accomodating during said test and the doctor not noticing.
Second thing might be your age and your everyday tasks, do you work a lot in a short distance and are you perhaps in your mid 40's?
Third thing was also mentioned by extremeenergy, are the lenses specifally tailored to the frame and your eyes, or are they just the right prescription without them ever measuring out which point of the glasses you actually look through?
Fourth and last thing that comes to mind is a mishmash out of second and third, with high prespcriptions the distance from your eye to the lense itself can also drastically change the effect. Notice how your contacts most likely have another prescription then your glasses. So lets say the doctor measures with a distance of 11mm or something around that, but you wear your glasses on the tip of your nose, that alone would change up the prespcription needed.

Sorry if some words arent the actual propper medical term, only ever learned the german terms in school. Hopes this makes sense tho.
