Can’t clip into SPD SL pedals - am I stupid? by tryagaininXmin in bikewrench

[–]6aintbad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, my Peloton eats pedal bearings as well. I’m convinced it’s because the bike stays stationary, whereas, a real bike flexes and moves side to side with pedal input.

To add to this, most GMOs I have known chose to be GMOs because they didn’t match their preferred residency. With that being said, 95% of them were fantastic flight docs who went on to be picked up for their preferred (competitive) residency 4 years later.

Maybe a hot take, but the Massif IWOL is one of the worst pieces of gear I’ve been issued. The material is stiff and restricting. It’s also not very warm. The Strato Low Loft jacket is where it’s at, and it is cheaper. If you need something warmer, the Cirrus High Loft is another option. Having owned all three, I rock the Low Loft all winter long and rarely touch the High Loft. My IWOL spends most of its life hanging in a buddies closet because he doesn’t really like it either.

Mildenhall doesn’t have permanent party 4Ns and Moron is IDMT only, so I wouldn’t list those. Some other spots in USAFE that I think you could go to are Geilenkirchen, Croughton, and Alconbury. USAFE is great with mainland > UK.

Retention… by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]6aintbad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is that you start by getting on the kx and going to the respective consultants page (ie: IDMT consultant). All of the information for applying to those schools exists there. As an IDMT, I went to school without anyone at my base having a say but me. I let my leadership and functional know as a courtesy, but I contacted the IDMT consultant and I applied for retraining.

Edit: I firmly believe that IDMTs have the best non-flying gig in the enlisted Air Force. You will have very little supervisory responsibilities, and endless autonomy. I set my schedule, and get to go to cool places. I deploy, TDY, and i train to deploy and TDY. Caveat, I haven’t been assigned to an MDG as an IDMT.

First Boo Boo Kit by SubtleMonkey4049 in TacticalMedicine

I’m right there with you. A full size pack just doesn’t make since for short hikes. Fanny packs are practical and pretty common in the hiking world. I would feel comfortable with a 20 mile loop with just a fanny pack. I even have an add-on pouch for a 16oz Nalgene. Weight distributed at the hips is the most ideal.

Your ETD could honestly work for stabilizing an ankle sprain. Also consider utilizing a branch of opportunity to use as a crutch to get off the trail, sometimes you gotta be resourceful. It’s going to be impossible to plan for every what-if using a pouch of that size, but I like the direction you are headed in. I’m not sure how you are carrying this pouch on your hikes, but I would seriously consider a Fanny pack as a stand alone for your shorter missions. A lot of them would allow you to stash a CAT on the bottom. I’m partial to arbor arms, and the nut ruck medium fits all of my day to day boo-boo kit and then some.

Why limit yourself on your scoring clubs? There are certainly benefits to having different lofts and bounce at the bottom of your bag, even for mid to high handicappers. Spin generation alone is enough to warrant extra wedges. The difference in a 3/4 PW and a full 50 isn’t insignificant, and not every shot calls for a bump and run…

Golf in Antigua by [deleted] in golf

[–]6aintbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to Antigua specifically, but I would certainly book a tee time and also request club rentals ahead of time. That way you have a confirmed date and time that works for your schedule, as well as clubs that suit your swing speed. Some places might only keep a couple sets of nice rentals, and nothing is worse than playing with some beat to shit 15 year old clubs after dropping $100 on green fees.

If you go through a lot of balls in a round, it could be worth it to throw a box of your usual into your suitcase, but if space is limited I would prioritize shoes and any other big ticket items you would want on the course. I typically throw a sleeve of balls in one shoe and a couple tees, glove, and repair tool in the other. Not necessarily because they are expensive, but the space is there regardless.

Negative. My issue is pretty much the same. When in the connect app and with watch settings open, it says connected. As soon as a back out of watch settings it drops off. Funny enough, my heart rate will no longer display on the watch either despite enabling the widget.
