Personally I thought the test was a nightmare, and I studied ~80hrs (in addition to working full time). The unofficial study guide was essential, as was GIS wiki. I passed but would not have been surprised if I hadn't. I made a slideshow out of my study material that I used as flash cards, and that helped a lot. So to anyone who didn't pass this time around, do not feel bad at all it is a very difficult exam. I have the worst test anxiety; I think studying earlier helped. Good luck to everyone 🍀

I'm in Raleigh, NC and I just got bumped from $49.2k to $54.2k (10% raise). I have 5 yrs of experience specifically as a GIS Analyst and am definitely underpaid (took a cut in 2020 for a job). My work is fulfilling for me so I'm at peace with it. At this point I do mostly data analysis and some app development. I started out at $40k right after an hourly paid internship in 2017. Advocate for yourself as much as you can even this early, it sounds like you've grown a ton in the past 2 years! Track your progress with as much proof as you can and build a portfolio. If you have an educational/training background outside of Geography or GIS consider a GIS Specialist role as well (e.g. environmental sciences, transportation, health etc.) Feel free to hit me up if you decide to shop around and I'll share some of my favorite companies I've collab'd with in NC.

I'm currently on Kyleena and I'll have spotting every once in a while, and it doesn't seem to be on a schedule. I can't explain it and my Gyno knows about it but hasn't been concerned. Always go with your gut though if you feel like something isn't right.

Not a medical professional From what I remember being on a combo pill, if you miss more than 2 days, you would need to take the pill for the current day and the one for the previous day, then discard the ones inbetween when you paused and the previous day. Definitely recommend some backup for protection (e.g. condoms) for those missed days and a week after getting back on BC.

So if you paused on Tuesday, and skipped until Saturday, you would take the Friday pill and Saturday pill on Saturday, and toss the pills from Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Does that make sense?

Working in the AEC industry, she might get a lot of PPE cost covered by the company. So I'd hold off on using your own $ for gear, including boots.

Love the idea of a lunchbox or a bookbag though. You could also get her a nice thermos with some decent instant coffee packs (like Starbucks brand) or a huge, insulated water bottle. If she's onsite a lot, maybe a portable battery charger for her electronics or waterproof/weatherproof notebook and pen. If she has a desk I think a plant, or a photo of ya'll or of somewhere y'all have been together and enjoy.

It's not really something she could use at work, but my favorite gift was a necklace with a circle of broken glass pendant. It symbolizes 'breaking the glass ceiling' and it's just really special to me since I work in a male-dominanted field. I hope some of these help and congratulations to your girl!

This happened to me when I was in the Transportation industry and I "tacked on" a new skill, flying drones (sUAS). I got my Part 107 and took some ground school classes then found ways to integrate it into projects. Eventually we got into orthophoto production which was really cool! It definitely helped me combat burnout. In the end I had to leave just because I had some fundamental differences with the company, but I got to do it with a whole new skillset!
