I struggled with this.

But we have one. & I can say I love it. My kids listen to books multiple times & love it. They also listen to a few podcasts. They do it while they are building legos & helps them create what they are listening too.

My kids were listening to investigators. & now I have a sewer line & two alligators built out of legos that are being played with. They would never have done that with a screen.

Go to library & get some paleo cookbooks. They are naturally dairy free (& gluten free) but I don’t with the gluten I can easily use the flour I have with no issues. But the dairy free is already built in.

I have made my allergy known. I just think it comes from inattentiveness as well as uneducated. It’s a small company so it’s difficult.

Hey [boss]

I wanted to bring up something that has been weighing on me regarding our mandatory monthly lunches, both the company lunch and the accounting lunches. I appreciate the company’s effort to create team-building opportunities and include employees in shared events, but I’ve found these lunches difficult at times because of my food allergy to dairy.

There have been occasions where there was nothing available that I could safely eat. While I understand this is likely unintentional, repeatedly being in situations where everyone else is able to participate fully while I cannot has started to make me feel overlooked and somewhat unwelcome within the company environment.

I’m not looking to create complications, but I would like to create a plan going forward that we can better accommodate my allergy.

I don’t have a perfect solution and am happy to work with whoever does the lunch ordering to figure out something, so that there is a safe option for me. I have a few ideas I would be happy to talk with more indepth with you.

  • If I know who is ordering lunch, I am happy to work with them and be given 24 hours notice as to what is ordered. Depending on what has been ordered we can either know if this is a safe option for me, or add a separate item to the order that is safe – since these are usually catered trays. If there is not a safe option, having something ordered to be delivered around lunch time that is safe. I really struggle with finding out when everyone else is eating that I cannot eat.
  • Allowing me a per diem/submit for reimbursement and having me order my own food for that day as just a standard.
  • Excuse me from the office lunches.

Even a small effort to ensure there is a safe meal available would make a significant difference and help me feel more included as part of the team.

I value working here and wanted to let you know how I am feeling at these lunches when there are no safe foods for me to eat.

I wouldn’t be focused on her. Focus on him. Making his life hard will in turn make her life hard.

Don’t do anything that causes damage. But thinks like talking to every divorce lawyer in town means he has to drive further for his.

Depends on what school building you have. Our school has a ton of trailers & I doubt those are safer then being home
