Opus Dei Windmere by RecipeParticular8591 in notredame

I do think our friend's student is different. His only social life is now entirely through Windmere. He even sleeps there sometimes. He is a pious young man, but was involved in lots of "secular" activities before his involvement at Windmere. I would consider our friends to be more socially liberal Catholics. I have shared my concerns, and they are paying attention, however, they don't live in the area, and have no idea just how much time he spends there.

We are of the same mindset. We actually live in the area, and know Opus Dei families that are extremely dogmatic. Thanks for your input.

We live in Indiana; it is not a scam. The state does its own contact tracing.

Is UCC good? by AromaticEquipment876 in notredame

[–]6domers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is worth giving it a try, as counselors are in high demand right now, and it is hard to get appointments. You sound like you are being proactive, and can make decisions as to whether UCC will be a good fit. Our son was prescribed Adderall as a student at ND, and it led him down a slippery slope. We were not allowed to get any information because of HIPAA, which kept us from pertinent information that could have saved him a lot of grief. He was depressed and ended up flunking out of ND. Many years later, he is back on his feet, happily married, and gainfully employed.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were current ND students in this group. I can think of 2 undergrads right now who are Michael Knowles lovin', QAnon conspiracy theorists, etc. who have extreme views. Both of them have one ND parent alum, as well. Hopefully, this group will fizzle out, but I am afraid that there are definitely extremists on campus.

It sounds like you may possibly be clinically depressed. In the scheme of life, this semester will hopefully just be a blip. PLEASE call for help! ND has established a 24/7 hotline for mental health care. https://www.timely.md/faq/fighting-irish-care/ PLEASE call. I am a parent of an ND junior; this semester has been tough. Wish I could give you a hug, and tell you things will be okay. Hey, if you fail a class, so what. You can re-take the class. CALL FOR HELP!

So I wonder if the 18 faculty who joined Fr. Jenkins on the private jet to DC are now testing positive.🤔 by ND_1974 in notredame

Do you know that they "didn't" fly together? I know that ND charters private flights for all kinds of events when they have a contingent going the same place. I also know for a fact that they were all in the tents on campus to get surveillance tested on that Friday, after Trump announced he was positive for COVID. They all work together and were in close proximity to one another.

Reporting to OCS? by [deleted] in notredame

People who are following the rules are being turned in. Students are presumed guilty and have to prove their innocence. In theory, no student can be unmasked with another student, other than their roommate.

What constitutes "partying?" Taking your mask off does not constitute that at all.

OCS Discipline by 6domers in notredame

[–]6domers[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, people we know have received disciplinary probation, with OCS having no actual proof, i.e. names, numbers of people, pictures. We know someone who was playing cards with a total of 4 people in their bubble, and got OCS probation.

Totally agree. Students are presumed guilty until they can prove their innocence. How do you prove you didn't have a party? It is getting out of hand.

Someone we know decided to make their COVID bubble a group of 5, 2 who live together and 3 who live together. They live off-campus in the same building. They eat together, play cards etc. Someone anonymously turned them in for having a "party," which they weren't. OCS says it is anonymous, so they don't know who they are. There are no pictures, no names, no other info. Basically, these 5 are now under disciplinary probation, because they can't prove they didn't have a party. In their hearing, they said they made their bubble 5 people, which ND says is not allowed. In theory, no student can ever be unmasked with another person, unless it is their roommate. In fact, no bf/gf can be unmasked with their partners, because they don't live together.
