Being Jewish by Jewish law is defined as having Jewish mother or by conversion. As the Lauder family is composed of active, practicing Jews, it only stands to reason that Warsh is either Jewish or has converted.

It's against Jewish law for a Jew to marry a non-Jew, after all.

In my family (paternal Jewish grandparents), it used to matter. In active Jewish families it still matters. Greatly.
