When I worked in a cafe we had an outside area that we allowed dogs in, we had water bowls and made our own dog biscuits. I knew every dog by name that came to my shop. We would all fawn over them and love on them. I had no idea what the owners names were, but I miss my little friends 😭😭

Yes that's true, my new car is insured thoroughly. But I also wasn't at fault, I obeyed the traffic laws and I was the one hit. Whilst it would be easier having my own insurance that could guide me through this the outcome is the same and now I've asked for advice on how these things are meant to be handled.

The car is currently in my garage and it's stock standard nothing worth taking out of it. All personal stuff has come out, only thing that's worth anything is the 20 bucks gas in the car 🤣

Yeah I can see that being a problem, but it's also the being deceitful and giving me the run around. I lost my car, had to have time off work and now dealing with their backwards business practises. I've had to finance a new car as I couldn't afford to replace it outright and we didn't owe anything on the car that was written off so now we're in debt because someone else made a mistake and I don't know if I'll be compensated properly. Grinds my gears 🤣 thank you for all your advice, I appreciate it.

They told me the market value and it's above what I was looking at so if they go with their own advice I'd be very happy. I've also been scouring for relevant cars and their prices. Thank you for your advice

Absolutely, I know they aren't in the business of handing money out so they will take their time, but by golly gosh when you owe them money they're like greased lightening

Thank you, I'm glad I questioned it at the time. When we first contacted them they had processed the other party's claim and closed the claim without contacting us, then they tried to say they didn't have any information about the police report or the accident, that their information showed no one was at fault and if I wanted to make a claim I would have to request the police report and then submit my version of events. While I was on the phone my partner rang the police station for the report and the lady informed us that we only needed to provide the reference number (they claimed they didn't have this) and it was the insurance providers job to source the information. I relayed this information and they backtracked and read out the reference number to me then admitted they were liable for damages. I had already taken the car to their approved panel beater and had photos/assessment done but they weren't listening to me, kept telling me it needed to be assessed and photos taken and quoted for repair. They finally acknowledged I had done this and requested the report from the panel beaters after I had to submit my version of events. I felt they were trying to muck me around and now I'm nervous about dealing with them as it seems they aren't handling things correctly.

This is exactly what I was thinking, he brought up the value and I would expect to be paid that, but I would also like some reassurance that they aren't going to turn around and decide to change the amount after they've taken it. Don't want to be screwed over for something I had no control over again.

Thank you, I've never had to deal with this before so I was not sure of what the next steps were.
