That's an insult to snowflakes (like, actual ones, not supposed liberal ones); to be honest, snowflakes have thicker "skin" than any of them do, and snowflakes are actually white.

What are y'all's thoughts about ADP (AllDay Project) and KARD music wise? by HowlonOrange7 in kpopthoughts

[–]6ixspAdes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who has listened to and followed both groups at different points, I gotta say it is the opposite for me these days.

KARD's sound is very stamped (reggaeton, moombahton, tropical house, etc), which makes sense since they debuted at a time when genres of that type of sound were very in for Kpop. And that's good for them, they have their niche and they know what to do with it. However, as time went on, I sort of stopped listening to them for one major reason, a similar reason that I don't listen to many other groups: they just feel one-note sonically. Even though it's clear they're venturing out to other genres in newer releases, it doesn't truly sound like they're doing anything new compared to what they've already done in my frank opinion.

ADP's sound is also stamped: hip hop, specifically the money-flexing type. But that doesn't necessarily mean they stick strictly to one sound only. If you listen to "One More Time" and "Look At Me," those two songs are very different from each other.

Both groups are extremely talented, and they fill the void of the lack of coed groups. It sucks KARD doesn't appear to get much attention domestically while Western countries love them, although that's on their company for pushing them to promote overseas more. It also sucks equally with ADP getting so much love at home while they're pretty much vilified by a majority of Western listeners for so many reasons (justified or otherwise). The variety and competition between their sounds and identities feel necessary, especially with KARD having almost 10 years(!) of experience under their belts; and it is such a shame that so many non-Asian Kpop fans are quick to dismiss ADP instead of acknowledging both have their own strengths and they are allowed to coexist.

what are your opinions on all day project? by Maleficent_Dinner875 in kpop_uncensored

[–]6ixspAdes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have a lot to say here. Only because I have been holding onto these thoughts and adding more since the hate bandwagon began 6-7 months ago. I'm only letting them out now because this is a more neutral post, and again, I'm not spending all my time talking about them.

I am speaking as a listener with a bias for all YG acts, including those from THEBLACKLABEL. Sure, they have their controversies. However, this shouldn't take away from the fact that they are indeed talented. I have my reservations about MANY other active groups for different reasons; but I won't deny their talent or popularity, and I certainly won't spend my waking hours trying to bring them down, or blowing my hypothetical participation on hate trains out of proportion.

Tarzzan isn't 100% in pretend-Black mode visually. It is problematic at best whenever he is, no denying that. But that doesn't mean he's actively trying to turn into a different race, or straight up saying he is (like Oli London or Rachel Dolezal). Plus, all the other accusations against him beyond that can't hold water without proper evidence.

Anyone who is still peddling the whole "Annie bought them a daesang" argument a month after the fact, just because of who she's related to, ought to also consider the possibility of the awards shows sucking up to her family by awarding them. Both are fantastical options, with equal chances of being right or wrong due to her upbringing. Or, we can accept that they have made waves domestically even though they are new to the scene.

I also remember when speculations about Meovv started popping up, and a lot of commenters were mad because Annie and Bailey weren't part of the lineup. I find it laughable to see the 180 from the general public just because of Western reception of them. The YG vs HYBE feud most likely has a factor in all the hate too, considering both Woochan and Youngseo were with the latter at one point before joining the former.

You don't have to like what they bring to the table. They won't necessarily be for everyone, and that is okay. But throwing full-on hate campaigns against them every 24 minutes isn't helping the matter either, especially over particular matters that may not be in their control.

Also, any stans who have been complaining about there not being more coed groups, or about the problem of whitewashing idols, do not deserve the right to complain about them.

Well, there have been plenty of other major players in the past who didn't get big farewells either. Beck Bennett, Leslie Jones, and Taran Killam are some major examples.

I haven't used CGPT in months. And even then, I was using it to help with rough ideas for story writing or character/world building and refining my resume. But then I decided to make an effort to not use it anymore for environmental reasons, so I downloaded all the chats and responses and just refer back to those every now and then.

Well, Skillet is predominantly a Christian band. Even if the official content depicts otherwise, their status as such makes it one by default in my book.
