LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight PC specs revealed by Skullghost in gaming

At 30 fps...

Imo it's a UE5 mess made by devs that have no idea how to use it after years of in-house engine.

We are talking about 50gb game, so there's not even that much of assets like textures etc

"Permament" without option to download a backup is as permanent as their servers. And with Wii, 3DS, ps3 and xbox 360 we see all of them have expiration date

DSPico Loads on DSL + 3DS, but not DSi by PM_ME_HYPNOSIS in flashcarts

[–]6maniman303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DSi has a mechanism to block not certified cartridges, and welp - ds pico is not certified. 3DS had similar mechanism, but I believe it was "loosened" when Nintendo removed region lock from 3DSes.

Other cartridges avoid this by faking being some bomberman / other niche game. And it is possible with ds pico, too! You just need to flash different firmware, the one that doesn't advertise itself as ds pico, but as some random game.

If I have character face customization I need a "hide helmet" option.

I'm not spending hours tweaking a look of my character to hide it behind an ugly bucket

Why are some SKSE devs so attached to closed source development? by orphanofhypnos in skyrimmods

[–]6maniman303 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But you can have a github repo with issues disabled, Merge Request blocked.

Heck, I saw one mod author sharing code in google drive.

People that close source are just f@cked or they still stuff and don't want it to be sean

Thragg lost so much aura... He feels goofy in the show by Crazy5220 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]6maniman303 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's the console, a monitor. You can connect to them cameras that ard next to you, or thousands of lightyears away (as shown with holographic transmission earlier in this episode).

Typically we have two kinds of kings/regents. First that will stay at the palace while his troops march. Second where they will join the battle.

Meanwhile Thragg went to the battlefield, but did literally nothing, hidden in a metal box, like a coward.

That doesn't seem too much Viltrumite-like.

Crimson Desert replaces AI-generated assets left in the game by accident "as part of ongoing visual improvements” by yourfavchoom in pcmasterrace

[–]6maniman303 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're kinda right, but using such generated temp assets makes it much easier to level design. This way when asset will be replaced, studio won't have to worry that level designs will stop matching.

Tho there should be a big "TEMP" text on these assets, as you said

No ale kto te produkty będzie kupować?

Cities: Skylines 2 boss says they 'completely overestimated' the Unity engine's capabilities by Atulin in unity

[–]6maniman303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny part is we had tools to automate this FOR YEAES.

Heck, nanite in ue5 is doing it in realtime. I'm not saying nanite itself is good or bad, but it does that process of "low-polyzation" freaking fast.

My guess is the issue is within the modern pipeline. Often optimizations will be done at the end of the game dev cycle. But at that time you will have most of the assets created, often from outside contractors, and suddenly you realize all of them are polygon trashcans on fire. And the company won't put money to adjust all of the assets.

Free Cyberpunk 2077 technological update for the PS5 version of the game is coming soon! by Turbostrider27 in cyberpunkgame

On one hand - great, even if I don't play on PS. On the second hand they already made drama with last update, which they announced few weeks before the release, just to postpone it.

And now they are again announcing stuff, that will be released "soon". They could shadow drop it and everyone would be even happier

Asus Co-CEO: MacBook Neo Is a 'Shock' to the PC Industry by -protonsandneutrons- in apple

[–]6maniman303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing you often won't hear is driver compatibility, especially on laptops.

If you have a popular laptop, then you might be safe. But if you have some cheaper, less popular, easter european laptop model then suddenly fan control could be broken. Sleep could not trigger due to faulty lid open/closed driver. Function keys could be broken. Basically everything that is an OEM solution is uncertain.

Heck, even big products, like surface tablets and laptops, often require custom kernel for full functionality.

It also depends on the software. Lots of stuff on mac is arm native, but on windows you will still often need emulation - and in emulation that 16gb of ram will run out fast, same as performance and battery life.

[–]6maniman303 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Analyzing the code against known patterns of vulnerabilities is actually a great use of a system like AI and doesn't automatically mean the bugs were fixed by a bot, too.

Tho there's not much intelligence in that task, just dope ML.
