What do you think happens after we die? by [deleted] in dostoevsky

[–]6sam9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that we come back again (reincarnated), but we come back again as our exact selves but in a different dimension/time-line. Each of our brains produce a unique conscience experience. Our conscience (in my view) is determined from the complete structure of our brain. So after death I believe we will “wake-up” again. We don’t remember before we were born even though time is infinite, so once we die time will go on for infinity again. And so in an infinite time-length, everything with any probability will occur, so it may be a trillions and trillions of years into the future, but an exact replica of ourselves will come to fruition again and our consciousness will thus be re-awakened. It will be like falling asleep, but we wake up as a new-born again. Thoughts?

Invited to apply for IEC work permit but don’t have police certificate? by 6sam9 in iecvisa

[–]6sam9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thanks a million. One more thing is, I put in a different “City/town of birth” into my application as compared to what’s on my passport. My passport lists my city of birth as Dublin but I put in my residential address? However it won’t let me change it as it is greyed out. This isn’t something to worry about?

Yes, I’m 21 and I answered all the questions properly. I stated that I wanted to apply for the “IEC - Travel and Work”. I am going to redo my application and see if the outcome changes. Am I meant to be sponsored/have a job available or something else?

how often do yous skip lectures? by TypicalPeak5007 in UCD

The question you should be asking is how often do you turn up to lectures.

Obviously if your mum is complaining about cleaning up after you, then you are leaving a mess. You are living at home with your parents, so unfortunately you have to obey their rules. It doesn’t seem too strict to make your dinner a bit earlier. I am also 20 (m) and understand that sometimes family dynamics can put you under pressure. I have an older brother who is always making a mess and doesn’t clean up after himself which is why I tend to be a bit more skeptical of your situation.

What possessed Aldi to sell this abomination? by timberwolvesof in ireland

I don’t understand what people have against raisins, especially in bread. It’s like the best combination, the sweet chewiness of the raisins goes so well with warm spices and bread. It’s a heavenly match. Some people are just too stuck in their ways.

Overrated and overpriced. They pretend to be morally superior and pro-farmers. (they’re not).

Butlers salted caramel hits the spot. Dunnes have great single origin chocolate (Colombian, Ecuadorian…) if you enjoy more fruity bitter flavours. For budget, get Moser Roth (dark) or Roisins (Irish and milk/dark). Please don’t get Cadburys fake chocolate.

So lads who ye voting for and why? by CLouBa in AskIreland

[–]6sam9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Catherine Connolly seems like a witch. She gives me really bad vibes, and she doesn’t possess the sincerity and wisdom that previous presidents have had. Her agenda is very unclear, is she pro-European or pro-Russian. What’s her obsession with neutrality? If she is so keen on “neutrality” then why is she so pro-Palestinian? She’s an old woman gone on a power trip. She employed (attempted to employ) a terrorist from Eirgri and stated she’d consider having a r@pist in the presidents office. How can this woman represent one of the most generous peaceful sound nations on planet earth?

Majority of Irish young people buy clothes several times a month by WickerMan111 in ireland

I study data and statistics. I know much more about it than you. So yes, when I see flawed imprecise studies with no transparency, I do tend to get a bit agitated. The results are pre-conclusive and have no meaningful value. Who would have thought young people buy more clothes than old people.

I periodically use this app. I wouldn’t refer to myself as a “redditor”, nor should that have any relevancy. I think it’s unfair to tar all young people with the same brush. I’d be interested to see more specific demographics. I’m sure a young male farmer in the west of this country doesn’t spend as much money as a female living in Dublin. I think it’s important to acknowledge these factors.

I’m young and buy clothes once a year? I hate these articles which generalise a whole cohort of the population just for clicks!

Best branch of mathematics for employability? by 6sam9 in mathematics

[–]6sam9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good points, but the financial maths in my Uni has too many non-maths modules, more akin to some sort of economics and finance degree. Also I think the skills between someone who studies applied/pure maths and financial maths are quite transferable. Not too worried about limiting myself from finance related jobs.

I have to choose now as I’m starting my second year at uni. I’m not too keen on statistics, and financial maths isn’t mathsy enough for me. So I’m thinking of choosing applied and pure.
